Send Shaheed and a 4th rounder. Let’s get him in before Monday night

Why not get a star receiver now to play with your young talent that is also familiar with the guy throwing him the ball?

Because he’s old and a malcontent that would require giving up draft capital and probably a new contract. Adams is not the difference between the Saints and a deep playoff run. Let the Jets waste their time with him.

We are effectively two made plays from being 4-0. And Davante Adams is a bonafide difference maker. An all pro and one of the best wr’s in the league. AND has chemistry with our QB, coaches and wants to be here. If you don’t move heaven and earth to try and make this happen, what are we even doing as a franchise?

Is he not on his last year?
If so what draft pics do you give up for him?
None should doubt his skill set even at 32.

You mean like not letting TE get loose for 61 yards on 3rd and 16 or committing PI on a last minute drive. Do tell how a WR prevents that?

It’s not 2022. Hes 31 will be 32 in December

Ehhhh. When I hear this I think of what we went through with Michael Thomas. Adams has been in a horrible situation with the Raiders. I honestly don’t blame the dude for wanting out of there. They are wasting a top 3 WR.

So this is where we are now? This is Coach O's hope & pray philosophy.

Manipulate the cap to chase it with Drew Brees is different than doing it with Derek Carr. They need to shift their strategy

You got years left of Ram and Cam Jordan, they are dead weight and eating a ton of money. We need to clear Taysom and Kamara, God bless em. They painted them self into a corner with Lat.

Gotta accept Carr will be here. He needs a bunch if we want to be competitive. I love Adams but that ain’t the move

2022? Jesus, it’s 2024 and they haven’t picked all pro yet. That wasn’t that long ago. If he’s so old, why are we having to add a year to make it seem worse.

As much as I love him, I think Shaheed had a major hand in costing us the last two games. We scored 12 points against the Eagles and the defense didn’t allow a TD against the Falcons. I absolutely think Adams would have impacted those games.

First off, the Raiders would have to convert nearly all of his base salary this to a signing bonus and then trade him to the Saints at around what works for the Saints cap.

You could send in a mid-level player without guaranteed money (i.e. signing/roster bonus money) moneywise to help open up some cap space.

With that you get him on a partial season rental and then just cut him if it doesn't work out. His next 2 years are not guaranteed, so unless he agrees to terms with his new team before the trade is made, any team that does get him, can just cut him.

Raiders have cap space and want to get something for him. It also opens up $36+ Million in capspace for them next season, so that is the other bonus on their end.

It just depends on if you think a 1-year/part year rental on Adams to take a shot at the playoffs is worth a 2nd round pick and maybe some filler. If it is, then you can do this trade. If not, then no point in the trade.

He has a 35M base salary next year. So, you couldn't keep him next year if you wanted to.

This would be a 1 year rental IF you could fit his salary this year...which we can't.

They would rework his deal.

has 3 more years on his contract including this year. (24/25/26).

I’d like to say that as of last night, I was against the idea of trading draft capital for an older vet on an expensive contract…
But after speaking with some knowledgable friends about it… frick it lets go get him and have some fun. The fact that Raiders said 2nd round and some comp (aka a 4th or 5th additionally/maybe a depth piece) isn’t the end of the world. We shite our pants with high draft picks all the time lately. We’d have a strong playmaker who can catch over the middle of the field. Our defense is top 3 in NFL. Im all for it now.

The difference between 29/30 and 31/32 can be huge. He missed last week and is questionable this week, injuries happen to older players

Or like Olave, Fuaga, Kool-aid and McCoy and all the other picks they’ve actually hit on

You mean a #2 WR they used more than 2 first round picks to grab on top of multiple other picks?

Olave is a very good player, but what they paid for him was absurd and he has yet to justify it. So I would not use a guy who is at best a top 30 WR (and realistically at best a #2 in the offense) costing 2 1st rounders and multiple other picks as justification for not spending a single second rounder on a guy like Adams.

He loves Keith Williams too, who’s our WR coach. They go back to Fresno State also.

The Saints lead the NFL in offensive plays out of 2 WR sets. It's not because of creativity, it's because of lack of depth & talent at the position. Kubiak has had to do this out of necessity. If the offense doesn't stay ahead of the sticks on the early downs, it becomes extremely difficult to convert 3rd downs which are the money downs. Adams gives you a legit option to go to on 3rd & more than 5. His presence will also open up the field for Shaheed, Olave & Kamara in the pass game. An addition of Adams opens up the offense more than some in this thread realizes.

This is also because you have taysom and they want to get him on the field with Kamara. The problem is taysom is 34 and I said he would get hurt before the yr started.

Kubiak is running 2 wr looks because he will have moreau and taysom on the field. He is running and passing out of the same formation. They went out and signed Cedrick Wilson to be the 3rd wide receiver. He hasn't done anything.

Top 3 top 3 what over 30? In the AFC West? There are 3 WR just from LSU better right now

Like Turner, Davenport, Penning, Miller and all the other draft picks that were wasted? You know what you're getting in an NFL caliber receiver with Adams. Trust this scouting department in front office to draft a receiver next year? At Perry is working out great.....

At perry was a 6th rounder

He is more of a jump ball guy. They drafted olave and found Shaheed. Adams contract is the problem. Not the compensation

He went to the Raiders specifically to play with Carr. They cut Carr, and his replacement doesn't mesh with Adams. It happens.

This is not a guy in the situation he signed up for in the beginning bitching to get out.
