This is from a couple of Saints Twitter accounts. The first is just a rumor but then John Hendrix, who normally doesn’t spout rumor mill stuff, says he’s heard it as well…

Hearing Mickey Loomis will be elevated to Vice President and Khai Harley will be the next Saints GM. More on the live show tonight.

Have definitely heard a rumor about Loomis getting a step up. Khai Harley was on the Panthers radar

I hear Loomis's contact has already been converted into a signing bonus

This just seems like switching over to the pelicans structure where Griffin is VP and Langdon is GM but everyone still knows Griffin is pulling the strings- just like Loomis will be.

Hmm. Maybe. I don’t want to be that pessimistic about it. Maybe Lauscha is retiring and Loomis is filling that role and might have his hands full. Harley would still get advice and answer to Mickey, but maybe he’d get to do his own thing.

All I know is that some around here have wanted a new GM for almost 20 years
Me the last few. So if we get a new GM I will be very pleased and wait to see his results. Hard to judge a man before he has even begun his job.

Khai Harley has attracted suitors. If you want to hold on to him, but Loomis is not ready to retire, this is really the only option.

I never understood why this didn't happen years ago with Ireland

Mickey is basically Gayle’s favorite child. He will inherit the Saints at this rate.

This is literally speculation from the Duncan tweet earlier today. It has zero legs

I would much rather promote Ireland than Harley.

I mean. It IS a rumor

It’s probably not going to happen but worth talking about and mentioning

Eh. There’s a lot more into being a GM than just scouting, which Ireland is good at, don’t get me wrong. But it appears the Saints are way more comfortable with him leaving than Harley. That says a lot

Would rather get fresh eyes on the organization then continue to promote from within. The bean counters looked great manipulating the cap during the Brees years but the chickens have come home to roost. We need a top to bottom rebuild on and off the field with player eval at the forefront

Hmm. Idk. Underhill has implied several times on his pod that some of the reaches in the draft weren’t on the scouting, Ireland or player evaluations but more from higher up or them bending to some of the coaches on players they were high on

I don’t disagree with wanting SOME outside change. Getting new ideas and fresh blood both on coaching staff and front office is needed in every organization. I just don’t agree on overhauling everything. Cody Rager is very, very highly regarded in the NFL and is the heir apparent to Ireland
