Who gives a frick about that. Payton was a good coach but he isn't Bellicheat, or Noll or Walsh or Shula. If he wants to get pissed over the Saints wanting to get as much as possible he can fricking rot as far I am concerned.

The people downvoting this to hell are likely going to be really pissed.
I’d love for it to be multiple firsts. I highly doubt it is. If he were to go directly to another team this year I think that would absolutely be the case. With there being a buffer year I think it’ll be a second or a couple of thirds or something like that.
Don’t think it’s about burning bridges as much as they’ve just kinda moved on.

Speaking of Gruden, he took a break and went back to the raiders.
If he does come back I’m sure he will listen to the saints offer to coach for them if there is an opening.
Also, why on earth would he want to coach under Jerry. People keep saying Dallas but Payton would clash heads with Jerry as a head coach. Payton wants total control like he had at the saints. Everybody knows Jerry won’t give that to a coach.

He’s not coming back to the saints. Pipe dream. He did try to go to other teams prior to all this.
He said he’s not done coaching, so unless he lands some big millions in the tv industry, he will return. Some say he’s worth a couple 1sts. I hope so.

This what I don't understand. He won ONE SUPERBOWL with DREW frickING BREES at quarterback. Jimmy Johnson won multiple with the cowboys, granted they had alot of better players, but again that falls on Payton for spotting and developing talent. The superbowl was in his 3rd or 4th year, what since then? Just pretty much screwing up draft position but then again it really didn't matter, he would've traded the 1st pick plus a 2nd for a player that would have been available at 32

Just to clarify here....I'm not advocating for us taking a shitty deal, I'm just saying what I could see happening. Sean and this org were together for a long fricking time. When he calls and says he has the itch and wants to go elsewhere, you think he's gonna say to Gail, Dennis and Mickey: "hey guys, yeah, pillage my new org for all they're worth!" ... ? Hell no, he's going to push and prod and try to negotiate a "fair" deal to not hamstring his new team. Because he is the greatest coach in the history of the franchise....I predict they cut him some slack and take less than they could possibly get. Just IMO.
In terms of what I WANT I hope we pillage some poor team for 10 1sts but

So, let me get this straight...
..You think the Saints are like a wife that is being asked by her separated husband to grant a divorce so he can fvck/marry another chick and the wife will give him a break on the alimony/child support so that his new relationship won't be hamstrung financially and that the wife will do this for him since they not only separated amicably, but because the wife hopes she might get him back someday after he's finished fvcking around?

Did a little more research and it through the 2024 season. So he can return in 2025 without the saints getting compensation.

Again Peyton has 0 leverage in this situation. The Saints do not owe him anything if he wants to coach another team. If Peyton does try to act like that, I hope the Saints ask for more.

Players don’t ask for discounts. Why should the team award a discount on a coach they have under contract who wants to coach elsewhere?
