sure sean, you quit on the franchise 1 year removed from having one of the greatest QB's of all time once it got a little hard for you. you continuously say you are going to coach again, just not here. sure thing bud, we will bend over backwards for you and not fetch fair value all for the sake of semantics and not upsetting you

Like I said earlier, if he wants to retire and go into broadcasting, fine. If not and he wants to coach, that team will have to pay for his services. There are no discounts bc of what he did. Players don’t ask for discounts. Why should the team award a discount on a coach they have under contract who wants to coach elsewhere?
This is all fine and dandy in a robotic madden world where people don't exist. What I'm saying is that Sean worked shoulder to shoulder with the people running this organization for 16 years. They are close. Therefore it's not as simple as you say it is.

These people you speak of in the organization (including Loomis) would be fricking all Saints fans not to get the best deal possible.

I agree but I think they will see it as being fair to all parties. Getting a decent return but not absolutely pillaging the team he's going to, so he has a chance at success.

You think the Saints organization wants SP to succeed at another organization? Give them a chance to win a SuperBowl because he led the Saints to a SB victory 12 years ago? That’s now it works. Do they want him happy? Sure. At the same time, he is under contract and whichever team(s) want him, will have to pay for him.
The reason for your downvotes is bc you feel the Saints owe something to SP when in fact they don’t him anything if he chooses to coach another team. What NFL team cuts a deal with another team with regards to trades? Look at Houston. They wanted 3 first round picks, players for a player going thru a legal process. Easily could have just release him and get him off their hands. They wanted a team to give up a lot. It worked.

No. I don’t feel shite. I said in my other comment, this is me guessing how the people in the org will feel. Not how I feel. I want us to pillage a team for a bounty of picks. We don’t owe him anything, we’ve given him millions of dollars. But when you love someone and you’ve spent more than a decade rubbing shoulders in the trenches with someone, you don’t turn around and do what you’re saying to that person so easily. I expect that is how the team will approach it.

The Saints by asking fair ( or maybe a bit over fair) market value for him is not doing anything to him. You think it would be a personal attack on SP. It is not. It is against the team he would be coaching (if he chooses to coach again) and that team wants him.

I think some of it depends on where he chooses to go. I think if he wants to go to an AFC team like the Chargers or Miami the Saints will take a fair deal. If it's somewhere in the NFC like Dallas we will play hardball. My guess is he won't go anywhere until his contract is up or a year left. I see him taking a break for at least 2 years.

This is so silly to me. They aren’t burning bridges when he chose to retire 3 years short of his contract.
It is not going to hurt his feelings that New Orleans would get the most they could for him.
