IMO, Davison is worth 5 mil.

You might be right about that, but there's only so much money to spread around. In order for good teams to stay competitive and keep their core assets they have to have some guys on cheap contracts. That might mean making tough decisions and letting certain guys walk.

Well, RC got away with murder, so that's worth something.

QB Teddy Bridgewater: $22 million per year

Bridgewater’s contract voids early in March, and he’ll have the opportunity to negotiate with teams ahead of schedule. It’s tough to pin down his contract value, but the voided years in his Saints deal come out to about $22 million per year. That would clock in between Joe Flacco and Russell Wilson as the eleventh-highest paid salary. Look for Kirk Cousins’ three year, fully-guaranteed contract to become standard among starting quarterbacks like Bridgewater.

Yep nope.

So we gave up a 3rd round pick for nothing?

I trust the Saints front office far more than someone on the internet that believes Teddy Bridgewater gets 22 million a year in the offseason.

If he leaves in Free Agency, we will get a compensatory pick in the 3rd round....so essentially we get our pick back

This is the pick New Orleans gave up for Bridgewater. Remember when they drafted Garrett Grayson with a third-round pick and cut him 16 months later? Even if Bridgewater leaves in 2019 free agency, the Saints would probably get this pick back as a compensatory selection in 2020.

Only if we don’t sign as many free agents as those who leave the Saints. With the lack of draft picks I am not sure this will happen.

PRob blew him out of the water in coverage though.
Idc where PRob was ranked in 2017. Everytime I watched an Eagles game he got tore up. PJ was better against the pass this year that PRob was in 2017.

I could see the Saints resigning Teddy for a backloaded contract with a cap hit next season of ~$5-10mil and then an avg of 16-18mil a year for the final 4 seasons.

Everyone who thinks you can get him below $16mil/year (when it counts)...not gonna happen.

Everyone who wants to let Teddy go for the 16-18mil a year. Good luck striking gold with the next QB while the Saints have a young core. Teddy can get you 50%-60% of what Drew can get you and has knowledge of the NFL game/Saints offense. He is not Drew Brees (no one is), but hes definitely better than a Blake Bortles/Joe Flacco type of QB.

There are more of a chance you get Bortles/Winston/etc. talent/type QB in the draft than getting a Mahomes.

Saints should ride the Teddy Train unless the price is wrong.

According to pff, PRob was a top 5 cover CB in 2017. According to pff, PJ Williams was one of the worst cover CB's in 2018...not much ahead of Crawley.

I think the best way to gauge PRob in 2017 is to ask an Eagles fan. Someone that saw him on every snap.

I think PJ got better in coverage as the season progressed in 2018. He's always been a plus in run defense, & he had a knack for being around the ball. He was also pretty damn clutch late in games last year. I still want PJ back, but I don't see the need to over-pay for our backup slot guy that just got a DUI.

I've been one of the only guys on this site defending PJ over the last couple of years when everyone wanted to cut/trade him. I've always thought PJ was a good guy to have on the roster. He can bail you out of a lot of situations if someone gets injured.

He was our contingency plan if Brees got injured. Bridgewater cost a 3rd, but he had a damn low cap # for a QB of his talent. We had a SuperBowl roster & CSP didn't trust Tom Savage or Taysom Hill to lead the team.

I'm not sure what we're going to do this year about the #2 QB spot. We don't really have many options. Might have to just hope to hit on a reasonably cheap vet free agent. Kind of like the Vikings did with Case Keenum.
