Possibly 5-6 QBs taken before we pick

Williams, Daniels and Maye seem like locks for the first 3 picks. There is a ton of smoke that JJ McCarthy possibly overtaking one of them as a top 3, with some mocks I have seen having him go as early as 3. Michael Penix just ran a 4.46 40, and he has been creeping up into the top 10 in the most recent mocks. Lastly, Bo Nix has been mocked in the top 13 off and on.
Vikings and Broncos literally have nothing at QB. The Raiders have the definition of a bridge guy in Menshaw. The Giants owner is openly talking about not stopping his front office from picking a QB early.
We may see a guy that has no business being there at 14 dropped right in our lap.

It's all smoke. Penix and Nix will go in 2nd round. McCarthy will likely fall to Broncos/Vikings/Raiders

I would like that but I suspect that Penix and Nix will not go before the Saints pick and, if that happens, hopefully still be there after they pick. I have seen a couple mock Nix to Denver and Verse to NOLA, which would be awesome I think.
I have also seen a few that have Penix in the top 12 but most I've seen have Penix late in the first and Nix in the second, occsionally the third, round

Pretty much this.
Some QB needy team might trade up to 30 or 31 to grab Penix to get that fifth year option. I’m not sure who is taking McCarthy. He might go before 14, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he didn’t either.

I have not seen one mock yet with Penix going here pick, or any with him in the first. I’ve seen a few with Nix after we pick.

There is a near 0% chance JJ isn't picked before us at this point IMO. The Vikings already traded for ammo to move up for a QB. The top 3 teams picking have jack shite on their roster, so someone from Vikings / Raiders / Broncos will trade up to jump the others to make sure they get him.

The Vikings didn't trade for an extra 1st round pick this year just to sit and wait for a QB to fall to 11. It's an open secret that Minnesota will package 11 and 23 to move up to the 4 or 5 spot to get McCarthy before the Broncos or Giants or Raiders can nab him. Huge mistake, IMO, but it's happening.

I think 4 will go before us. I don't think Penix or Nix are worthy of that grade. I think it's smoke.
I'd love to be wrong though.

What's crazy is there is a ton of smoke on JJ going #2 to Redskins. Other rumor going around is the Cardinals looking to trade Kyler. You could have the top 4 picks being QBs

It’s the time of the year where all the media and mock drafts force 5+ QBs in the 1st. Then on draft day we see maybe 3 QBs go in the 1st and there is the inevitable run on the position the fans want their team to draft

All I said there are a lot of mocks/experts predicting 5-6 QBs in the 1st round (OP thinks in the first 13 picks). I pointed out that this is what the media/mocks do every year and the reality is 1/2 of the predictions typically go in the first round.
I then mentioned that the position every fan wants their team to draft, will often have a run before their team drafts. Yes, it is a tackle heavy draft, and the Saints need a tackle. It is not unfathomable that there could be a mini run-on OTs before the Saints draft which means their BPA could be a different position, or they will need to reach just so they can draft an OT

The more, the better. Teams reaching on a QB early means that the real prospects will available longer.
