So far in his NFL career, he's started a total of 6 games and played a total of 23. Looked bad at LT and was switched to RT, which at the moment doesn't look any better.

But, is it due to lack of experience at RT and lack of actual NFL playing time at LT?

Can they buffer the right side of the line with double-teaming Bosa or other pass-rushers? Glad we don't have a lefty QB at this point.

I mean realistically, injury at the end of 2022 didn't help, so are we being too harsh on him?

He was a project to begin with, his athleticism and work ethic was considered top tier - so you imagined he could be coached and taught technique.

Injuries plagued and slowed that down.
His hot headed attitude is also showing.

It's a bad look.

If we did, they just keep him at LT and have Fuaga at RT

Just cut your losses he’s literally the worst tackle I’ve seen in my life. Since my child days I can’t remember such bad technique.

This is on the coaches. He was bad at tackle, so hey let’s keep him there. But move him to the other side. They should have just moved him to left guard and left him there.

I’m guessing when you burn a pretty high pick on a tackle you have to try to save face instead of adding to the pile of high busts that you’ve recently drafted….

He’s just bad. His feet are too slow to be a tackle. He needs to be tried at guard.

I’d cut him after he lays another egg tomorrow night. Time to move on.

This is true, but the part that’s absolutely hilarious is check out Tyler Smith w Dallas. He was the next o-lineman taken in the draft (4 picks after Penning). Played LT for Dallas in 2022, moved to LG in 2023 and was All-Pro.

You think he is just going to magically work at a position he has never played?

He can't even figure out tackle. Being inside is an entire different skill set. He is getting out leveraged on the outside. It would be worse on the inside.

Bro still has absolutely no technique two years later. Makes no difference where you put him. He ain’t getting it. I don’t understand how he still can’t even kick slide. It is awful. He has all the intangibles you can want but he ain’t getting it. He should be practices his technique every single day. He looks the same as day 1

All Pro material for the next decade.

I’m thinking he can’t he even be a
BACK-UP Guard at this point.

We threw away YET ANOTHER 1st RD Draft Pick …..and additional picks we used to trade into his spot.

Horrendous Draft Management !!

Technique is more important on the edge than inside. He’s retreating to far back because he’s scared of getting beat around the edge. So guys are just bullrushing him back and he’s playing on skates.

At least at guard you are engaging quicker and usually attacking. It’s why I said they should have just moved him before training camp so he can learn. It’s to late now. Season is about to start.

He is the epitome of your worst of the worst first round busts.

It's crazy that people who do this for a living couldn't see this.

He just backpeddles , doesn’t initiate contact at all. Has no punch which is important to slow the rusher.

He has terrible footwork, he needs to be moved to guard to cover up for it. It was a failed project, except he was a 1st rounder .
Mickey Loomis can't draft for dog shite.
If mrs benso knew anything a out running a billion dollar organization he would have been gone in 2021

his athleticism

What athleticism???... we drafted dude based on him having a so called "attitude and tough mentality"... clearly dude not athletic or skilled enough to play LT... not mean enough to play RT.. he gives off fake tough guy vibes

Initially it was a lack of technical refinement which lead to a massive crumbling of confidence.

IMO unless Penning can regain some form of confidence in himself he’s very likely to be a surprise cut on the day they have to get to their final numbers. They could pick up anyone off the street rn and get basically what Penning is giving them.

I expect to see Landon Young at RT a lot tonight to see if we have A RT on the team.
