Penning needs to be moved to guard

If he's still at LT next game, Coach Allen and Carmichael need to go. He made journeyman Arden Key look like prime Von Miller. It's obvious he doesn't have the feet to be on the outside. Kick him inside where he can play to his strength as a marker and move Hurst to LT.

Did penning do better in 2nd half or did we help him? It didn't seem he was giving up as much pressure in 2nd half

Dude had a rough first half but we can give him a little time. Most games I’ve seen so far the Olines are struggling as they always do beginning of season. He’s perfect build for a T, no reason to move him to G just because a few posters here said so. We got the win, let’s see if he can improve over next few weeks, that’s probably one of the best Dlines we will face all year

He had help during first drive of 3rd Q and then went back one on one most of rest of the game

it was a combo of both
he was doing much better
AND they gave him TE blocking help on known passing downs
in honesty there werent that many 3rd and longs in the second half, and he was doing better, so he wasnt in position to need much help

Penning looks slow and unathletic. I think he will struggle with speed rushers. Just my take from his limited play last year and this game. Hopefully he improves, I just don’t think he has a high ceiling as a pass blocker.

His athletic ability was supposedly above average. His looking slow could just be figuring out a much higher level

He had a rough outing against Carolina. If you watch Penning though on pass protection, the dude literally looked like his feet were set in stone. Thats the one negative hes been horrendous as a pass blocker, solid run blocker,- I would have thought his pass blocking after a year would be better but hus fundamentals look like shite.

Yes. A fair bit because Armstead and he was pretty decent. Way better than Penning today.
