He is a 6th year senior playing guys like 4 years younger than him. He will be a 24 year old rookie QB. Does this mean anything when evaluating a QB? He is practically and NFL age QB playing college.

would love to see the Saints draft hi
He’s had two season ending knee injuries, so the Saints are probably salivating over him.

For me - no. You are getting his full rookie contract before he turns 30. This isn’t Chris weinke.

Now if the medicals tell me you can’t draft him fine, but Penix is great. This isn’t a one read/two read and run offense. Penix is going through progressions with 4/5 wide running full route trees.

Guy was just incredibly impressive.

He sort of reminds me of a young Warren Moon. Great pocket presence with a very lively arm.

I’d take Penix over Daniels. His accuracy is absolutely insane. Unfortunately we won’t get either tho.

Imagine guys like Justin Fields, Trevor Lawrence, Jamar Chase, Amron St Brown, Jaylen Waddle,Aidan Hutchinson, Micah Parson etc playing in college this year. They were all part of the 2018 class Pennix was in

Of course age and experience matter when evaluating these guys, especially QBs. We saw this with Hendon Hooker last year

He has had 3 notable injuries in college. I think injury risk drops him to 2nd or3rd round. I like him but too risky in the 1st.

wouldnt get my hopes up. If we are keeping DA, and that seems like a given, then they will want to go more all in to next year. Meaning theg wont draft a qb in the first. Sorry.

He can really throw the ball. His motion is bad though... will that hurt him in the nfl?

I think it will hurt him. Losing those fractions of a second with his long motion could be bad. Especially since he isn’t very mobile. And he’s 24

His motion actually reminds me a lot of a left handed Phillip Rivers, who had a great NFL career. Kind of built like him too, but seems to move a little better.

I'd remind that Taysom Hill was injured every year as a college QB, but has been pretty healthy as a pro despite playing special teams and tight end a lot of the time....

Ah. The weekly “I saw this guy play for the first and only time, and he had a good game; therefore, he’s the best player in the draft” thread.

They were raving about his quick release

Guilty as charged. But I’ve seen a lot of college games live and rarely seen a college QB operate a passing game with more than 2 options as effectively as Penix did against Texas.

He was masterful against Texas.

I’ll pretend to be a nfl scout but not a doctor. Unless the medicals say do not touch, I want the saints to draft Penix with their first pick if he is on the board.

I need to see him under real pressure first because that delivery is slow if not extremely accurate. How is the health of his knee also?

So funny. Penix will be a better pro than Daniels.
Why?

I’d still be willing to bet that Penix isn’t selected in the first round simply due to his medical

Saints should be all over him. He is a great QB for sure.
