purely speculation on my part but speaking of GW... this whole scenario might have had some factor in him not even interviewing in Denver & TN. It's not now or even soon. But if he's set up as the heir apparent we know this is a dream scenario for him.

I thought of that too, what does Gregg Williams lack of interviewing for head coaching positions mean in all of this!?!

Wish the Paytons luck in their new gated community, next to the Jonas Brothers. Going to be hard on daughter Payton but she'll soon have a new crop of friends.

If Payton himself is actually moving from the New Orleans area I see that as a huge slap in the face to the city and people of New Orleans. As close as the team is to the city, as much as he's preached how important the unique bond is between the team and city is, etc, etc this would be a rather shitty move on his part. Frankly, if he doesn't want to be living in NOLA than I just assume he stay in Dallas and find himself a job there. The Saints need somebody fully dedicated to the city and the team.

I'd prefer we keep the guy who won a Super Bowl with the fricking Saints.

Agreed. I can't help but be a little bummed though. I'll just have to get over it. frick it.

Oh shut the frick up, he can live in Russia for all I care. As long as the Saints are a perennial playoff team and a Super Bowl contender, I want him to stay.

Absolutely HATE to say it but this just sounds like bad news for the marriage. Like there is some trouble and the next announcement will be that they have separated.

Go ahead and use it SP.

But ill care when its Brees or Gregg Williams house hunting. Again, there are a lot of guys that can relay plays to Drew Brees. There may be 10 guys that could do what GW does with the Saints defense

All I know is we better not see her on top of a float like she was last year when we win the SB again

I bet Drew has a separate bedroom for his wife when Payton is in town.

SP is the premiere play caller in the NFL...There are about 28 fan bases that would call for their coach's termination if they could get this guy...including dallas

Man, he could make a killing if he did a quick e-book addendum to sell. Call it 'Home Team, Not Home Town'

Didnt say he wasnt a great play caller or that i wanted him to leave. But Brees is gonna be fine no matter who's calling plays

Brady does fine regardless of the intern Belichick hires to call plays

Liking A doesn't mean hating B. There's no need to act like an irrational girlfriend.

the point being that SP maximizes Brees' talent...SP also is a great evaluator of talent and has put together the best scouting team in the NFL

I wonder if brees steps in and tells payton to reconsider.

Like it was said before, Drew is King New Olreans. It looks bad on him too if Payton bails on the city.

Payton was never fond of living here. THen he had the chinese drywall situation. Family obviously doesn't like it, so convincing Payton is silly. Payton has the leverage now. He may even be more dedicated to coaching when he spends his time in the city now that he doesn't have the ball and chain around his nuts.

So what's the difference between a 2 hour round trip driving a car and a 3 hour round trip ride in a private jet?

He lives in Mandeville, not New Orleans, come on.

Everyone should go ahead and hate on the best coach we ever had for doing what's best for his family, that's the way to keep the guy around.
