Wouldn’t you give these 3 players up for Watson? Of course you would. Trade your next 3 first rd picks and a starter and get this deal done Mickey

I am not advocating for giving these players up specifically. I am using these players as an example of what we would not have for Watson. This is for the people who do not understand comprehension. Thanks

I don’t think they would want 2 DE’s. But resigning Granderson definitely helps this and I would take it.

Well I didnt say to get rid of these players. I am using these picks as an example of what we would lose for a franchise QB. The draft is a crap shoot. We know what we get in Watson

The offer the panthers made is supposedly 3 firsts and 2 2nds and two players.

Would you trade ramczyk, Lattimore, Michael Thomas, Marcus Williams, Davenport, Werner, and Adebo? Because that is essentially what the saints would be matching with. You can pick some of our poorer draft picks to make this argument but that’s a bad faith argument. You need to use the best picks to know what you could potentially be missing out on.

I think when you have the chance to get a top 5 QB you do what you have to do. But at least have this debate in good faith.

Actually you would use a mix of the 2 if you wanted to be fair.

Ruiz, lattimore, ram, turner

I don’t think OP was just picking “bad picks” because he would have used Peat. He was using the teams last 3 1st rounders as the example

You also need to factor in how much $ you are tying up in salary cap without the benefit of the potential draft picks and their lower cap hit (which can last for 3-4 years per drafted player). Tough call either way. Saints have had a good hand in picking UFAs that contribute, but 3 No 1s and the 2s is a ton for a guy who has proven to have some maturity issues.

i think watsons value is higher then rogers or wilsons

but lets be honest, we have less to offer then the other teams who want him do

Ok…let’s be honest. 3 first rd picks to start. Throw in Hill or Lattimore. Deal is done. Pretty easy eh?

Gonna be hard to throw in Lattimore after his latest contract restructure.

Neither one of those players cold be traded given their cap hit to the Saints, plus the room you already need to make to absorb Watson's contract.

Why not? Let's do that.

And, when you begin to explain why the Texans wouldn't accept that deal, you'll understand why your original point is invalid as well.

I mean Picking all good or bad players is bad faith.

The draft is a crap shoot and every other year we smell our own parts and draft like morons.
