Shough wasn’t considered ever to be first pick. My opinion and it’s just that my opinion Nuss is a better QB then Manning. Every time AM played a hs with a pulse he shite the bed.

Arch hasn’t done anything at any level that I found impressive so he needs to have a really good year this year for me to think he deserves being picked in the early rounds of the draft.

A lot of it is name recognition, but I’ve seen people praise him at U.T.

Yeah he only broke all of Peyton & Eli’s records at Newman. Not impressed

In limited action at UT his TD% is sitting at 9.5% and INT% at 2.2%. He also has 4 rush TDs

6’4” 225, has the arm and is athletic. He hasn’t done anything to suggest he isn’t a top QB prospect

He is a top QB prospect. After this year, he will be one of the top QB prospects or slip down. There are only a handful of QBs that have shown more at this time so we will see.

It's all based off HS film, measurable, pedigree at this point.

WHY? That is the question the OP has

And I answered it, physical traits and his performance in HS and various camps. It’s not like no one has seen him throw before. If you think its just his name remember a few years ago Spencer Rattler was deemed a top prospect. Why? Well he was 5* (physical traits, great performance in HS/camps) and was the heir apparent at Oklahoma who had just produced 2 Heisman winners and #1 overall picks. Rattler failed but the guy who replaced him Caleb Williams became “that guy”.

I guess i should say it’s not just because of his name. But yes I’m sure plenty of guys who did not have a camp last name have been thought of as great prospects even before playing and others who did have famous last names were never projected high.

That’s beside the point. He was drafted based on potential not production.

And everyone is just speculating Arch will be a top pick. It’s under the assumption he puts up decent numbers and has success. They’re assuming he will put up good numbers because he has proven he’s a talented quarterback and Texas is probably the most ideal place in the country for a QB to have success right now.

You’re not really going out on a limb there. Nuss was one of the best QBs in the country last year. But if both QBs put up equal numbers this year you’ll probably see the scouts favor Arch based on his size, athleticism, etc.

Lol why are you bringing up high school? He’s played significant snaps in college ball for one of the best teams in the country. Just kinda proves how unfairly Arch gets judged. They say he’s only something because of his name but the only thing people hate about the kid is his name.

He’s done nothing but live on the hype of that Manning name. It started in high school and has worked its way through college and seemingly getting to pros. He could not unseat a 7th round pick in Ewers in 2 years, that doesn’t scream no. 1 pick to me.

But just like anyone else, it’s my opinion and he could live up to his name, we just don’t know yet.

He will be a good one, IMO. But I like this team with NUSS at the helm!

Arch Manning will always have unrealistic expectations simply because of his last name and the position he plays (he can thank his uncles for that). People see a Manning at QB and just assume he’ll be a #1 overall pick, elite QB, but the truth is, he hasn’t done anything at the college level yet

Because what he’s shown in limited action has been impressive and he has every skill you want in a modern qb

What has he shown? Against FCS schools?

Some of you are ridiculous.

Newman plays much easier competition now than back then.

High school offenses actually pass the ball more now.

Against awful competition. He didn’t play against any good teams outside of a bit of mop up duty. Jennings and Harris looked amazing against shitty competition too at LSU. Didn’t make them top WB picks much less top prospects.

Kid’s entire hype is just based on his uncles and grandpa and nothing of value. Even in high school he was mediocre but maintained the #1 recruiting ranking.

I agree with you except he didn’t do any camps as he didn’t need to because of his name
