Payton’s value would tank.

Why? It’s not like a normal trade where a team gets value based on the current contract. If a team wanted him next offseason the compensation shouldn’t change at all. Sure they could call your bluff and the next offseason you would get nothing but it would be tough to do much worse than the late first we got.

If you don't think we needed to give up a 3rd to get a 2nd what do you think went down?

I'm quite certain that the entire NFL world takes the position that the Saints got fleeced again, except for less than 50 percent of Saints fans. Most Saints fans agree that the Saints got fleeced again.

Which side is correct?

Payton went on that talk show and told the world what the Saints would get, and Payton was quite accurate!

I said the same that we were going to get multiple 1st rounders. People on here are delusional fools

I didn’t think multiple firsts but I think it’s ok to be disappointed with a late first and giving them a pick

Given our history with this regime and late firsts, I’m less than convinced they’ll come away with anything meaningful

I get people being upset about losing the third. But you can always get back into the third next year if there's a guy they HAVE to have.

I'll take a first and two second round picks next year vs. a first, a second and two thirds. I also love the post about how often we've hit on third round picks. We've hit on quite a few second round picks as well.

- McCoy
- Werner
- Michael Thomas
- Vonn Bell
- Alontae Taylor (who is better than Adebo)
- Marcus Williams

Yup, Loomis blinked at the return to Fox agent plant rumor. Our GM acts like the bottom feeding franchise we are.

Everyone will eventually talk themselves into this being the idea, but I just don't think the 3rd was necessary. That's just an opinion. I can't see our 3rd being the hold up on whether the Broncos move off Payton.

It is what it is. We'll all eventually get over it and move on.

I mean, i hate we lost it.

But think about it like this...how pissed would you be if reports came out that Mickey wouldn't trade Payton over a third round pick. Then the following year, we get worse in return OR nothing at all. I'll take a first this year and two seconds next year.

I guess they could just pay someone to fail and hire him the following season, but who truly wants to do that and that's still a risk on their part when it could be a sure thing to get his services. "They" being any particular team interested.

The guy is a POS.
Denver banking on a playoff seed draft choice and the sAINTS with another Top 5-10 pick. So the Denver 2nd is just a dozen players or so away from the sAINTS 3rd.
So basically we traded Sean for an end of the 1st rounder this season and a trade up a dozen picks next draft.

Saints got ripped. Traded the best coach we have ever had for less than marcus davenport. Unreal.

Fleeced again and this seals it for me. Loomis needs to no longer be GM, this is every single trade. Basically got 2 2nd rounders and gave up a pick for a top 5 coach

I am at least glad it’s to an AFC team we won’t have to see too often.

If you take note of what Rap reports he says CSP was basically 3rd choice for Denver after Ryans and Harbaugh.

If correct your not getting a great prom date/deal on your 3rd choice lol

Just the absolute most stupid logic. How is getting nothing not much worse than a late first yet people are dying over the fact that we gave up a 3rd? We got a 1st for a commodity that offered no value to our organization. That's a win. Upgrading a 3rd to a 2nd is lagniappe. The disappointment stems from unrealistic expectations. People convinced themselves that Payton was going to fetch multiple 1st so one looks bad in comparison.

I look at the whole ordeal THIS way: Now that CSP is for sure not coming back to the Saints, the Saints now have the opportunity to go get a Head Coach and player personnel acquisition specialist who is EVEN BETTER THAN Sean Payton!!

I wonder if that's why the Saints are retaining DA and Carmichael? And . . . is Carmichael still telling people that he doesn't want the OC job? Or has he stopped telling people that he wants to quit?

Thats something else the ranters avoid. You take a little less to send your top dogs outta conference but they avoid that.

If there is a positive about a future Denver pick - absent a Mahomes or Hebert injury the broncos ceiling is 3rd in their division. I’d bet good money the broncos finish in bottom half of league next year.
