So, which is it? Yesterday everyone was singing their praise. Was the Patriot d-line that bad? I know they had 2 key players out, but still.

I didn't watch one snap yesterday so I didn't get a good look at who performed and who didn't.

They are not great but Carr doesn’t do them a lot of favors. He’s gotten rushed and hit immediately but there’s been many times that he holds the ball too long.

They have been average to solid the last two games. They still suck at communicating who is blocking who, especially Hurst. Most sacks are coming from an unblocked player.

they looked a lot better yesterday . Having Ruiz back helps a lot but it really does look like Penning is getting better and they are starting to play better as a group

I think Carr does nee to do a better job of being aware of when his pocket is failing.

I don't know if that's something that can be learned or if you just have it of you don't.

Hardly no one was singing their praises like they were all stars. Played ok but still more questions than answers going forward.

Since the Packers game they have showed steady improvement each week.

What's become noticeable is Carr is not a very accurate QB and he needs to get better now that the line is giving him time.

I’m not sure but we ran the ball well yesterday. The o-line surely had something to do with that.
Also, Kendre Miller looked great. Im excited to see him develop.

Looks like he's in that "have to make THE play everytime" mode. I recall one particularly bad sack where he was back there forever and was hit from behind. That was a rookie mistake, he knows at that point he should have gotten rid of the ball or just salvaged whatever yards he could get by running. Instead, he holds it just waiting for anyone to get open (could see him scanning back & forth) and is very lucky he didn't lose the ball on that hit.

Pats D-line is struggling, but the Saints o-line appear to be gelling and playing as a unit instead of 5 individuals.

Carr has gotten slightly more time but we have been keeping in a back in pass pro. When Kamara has slipped out into a route Carr has had to quickly check down or throw it away. So they looked a little better but I don't think they are actually that much better.

Our O-line has its moments but can be inconsistent. That’s about all
I’ve got.

Penning hasn’t given up a sack in 3 weeks.
115 pass attempts
1 QB hit
4 pressures

Remember when he was going to ruin our season?

I think they are getting better each week. I don't know how many snaps they all played in the preseason and there really isn't a lot you can do during the week of practice because of the collective bargaining rules as far as contact goes.

Truth be told I bet if you talk to fans from various teams around the league they've been displeased with their offensive lines.

That's great numbers to see how he's progressing. I've been working a turnaround so yesterday was the first game I truly got to sit down and watch from start to finish. Penning played pretty good from what I saw. I noticed backs helping chip on some, but definitely not all so that tells me he's improving game to game

Watching the game it certainly felt like we ran the ball better totaling 136 rushing yards and AK and Kendre both showed up on several plays! Buttt we still had a pretty low average, AK had 3.6ypc and Kendre 3.0. Improvement for sure to actually have a somewhat sustainable run game, but we still have room for improvement there

I was pretty impressed by Miller’s ability to contribute in pass protection. On one of his screen plays he played it absolutely perfectly with a chip and then slipping into the flat.

Penning taking steps forward will help tremendously. So will a dangerous screen game. Was very encouraged from what Miller showed in that area.

They can run block really well. We should be pounding the ball. Pass blocking issues that may just be a factor of familiarity with each other and the calls.

O-lines are more than the sum of their parts. Usually good units have played together for some time. I think we're starting to see some of that, especially since Penning has individually gotten better.

He is almost entirely responsible for the lack of run game (according to Underhill). Saints run to the right side twice the rate of the left in order to hide him and he is missing a lot of blocks. He is one of the worst in the NFL. Move hurst back to LT and bring peat back in a guard.
