I would part ways with anyone else on the roster not named Tyler if we could get Linderbaum. No way he leaves Baltimore though. They would be insane to let him get away

So if that's true that only goes to support the quit moving guys around thing since he played very well at LT last year. You are killing your own argument.

Is this a pipe dream? Sign him, draft a top DE, and saints could have an elite DL and defense next year.

I know we already paid Juwan but I wouldn’t mind taking a swing at a guy like Goedert. Still not too old for a TE (will be 30) and we saw what a good TE can do for a young QB (Lamar with Andrews, Daniels with Zach Ertz, Mahomes with Kelce) not saying Goedert is on prime Kelce’s level but a TE that can put his hand in the dirt and give you solid run blocking AND can catch would be huge if Moore wants to have the offense be more dynamic.

Besides OL, that’s who my splash signing would be. I think the RBs get snatched up, Pierce gets tagged or just gets extended with the Colts. Grab that TE that can be a redzone threat and help with run blocking. Even allows you to run more 2 TE sets with Juwan

He actually wasn’t bad at all

He was below average (but not Ruiz bad) while injured but he’s had good performances for the last several weeks, especially when schematically Moore leaves him and Banks on islands without much help A LOT. Like all the time lol. There’s way more uncertainty with moving Fuaga AGAIN and drafting an unknown with the 8th overall pick vs keeping an ascending, solid but could be great Tackle in place so he can develop and drafting a RG to compete with Ruiz with a pick in the 75-100 range. People act like moving Fuaga inside is immediately going to turn him All Pro. There is data that suggests he COULD be but it’s way riskier considering the draft capital for him AND the first round Tackle they take in this dogshit scenario

I definitely wouldn't mind Goedert either, but given his age I wouldn't want to give him a top 10 TE contract. If we could get him more around top 15 money I think it's doable.

There is nothing wrong with having a 2nd TE who can create mismatches, and him being a decent blocker sure helps as well.

It would also lessen the need for WR, especially looking at the ones available in FA (really it looks like Shaheed or Pierce would be the play, and neither is a #1).

I know he wasn't, and I know it was partially due to injury and partially because of the move.

I just found it funny he immediately validated my stance with his opening statement while then trying to contradict it. xD

Fuaga will be more than fine at RT.

I’d even pay someone younger like Chig Okonkwo. Just someone else that can be a blocker and receiver. I think Goedert would be out of our price range and there’s no guarantee he would even want to come here vs other suitors or just taking less money to stay with the Eagles.

Pierce would be my number 1 guy but I think the Colts overspend to keep him. They just threw 2 first round picks away. Another $20M isn’t going to scare them off. But other than LG, I do think the Saints try to make a small splash. Somewhere between Chase Young and Justin Reid type of signing. Don’t think they go crazy but I do think you’ll see them be more active in trying to get some younger dudes they believe in.

My FA moves would be short term and not break the bank

Wyatt Teller would be priority
3 yr 32 mil

Breece Hall
3 yr 29 mil

Then I’d try to re-sign our guys and I’d look at DT and TE options. Pierce af WR would be nice but that’s a lot of $$ when you also have to pay Olave

His PFF grades were almost identical for 2024 and 2025.

Based on the untrue premise that he was very good last year

Going back to Shaheed and just how much being in Seattle may have tanked his value, he played 9 games for both teams (started 9 for us and 4 for Seattle). This was his stats at each:

Saints
66 targets, 44 catches, 499 yards receiving, and 2 tds

Seahawks
26 targets, 15 catches, 188 yards receiving

Those stats certainly don't look good, but keep in mind that is a WR jumping mid-season to new team learning a new playbook, language, and developing a rapport & timing with a new QB. Not saying if he re-signs with Seattle that his stats will necessarily be better than they were with the Saints, just putting into context. Vele was injured but even still it took several games to find his rhythm.

RB group is loaded. Any of those top 6 could have a role here at the right price.

Hope we can pick one of them up and don’t overextend in the draft.

He was injured basically from the beginning. He was a stud as a rookie at LT, no reason to think he cannot play RT especially since playing RT in college is what got him drafted in the 1st rd. Nobody should be purposely looking to move Fuaga.

That said I'm not against moving OL to new positions if the situation presents itself, like our our interior line showed this year.

Re-sign Fortner, he's plug & play starter IOL! Moore, Nussmeier and OL Coach Brendan Nugent should evaluate Fortner & McCoy and determine which to put at C or G. That solidifies 4/5 starting OL spots before going outside our own building.

Sign a higher end starter at G in free agency to replace Ruiz.
Look to draft a C/G in the 2nd/3rd/4th or sign another decent one in FA to have quality depth for inevitable injuries to our interior OL.

Crazy thing about those stats is he got most of those a few games after he got there, and was rarely targeted towards the end.

First 3
8 targets, 3 catches, 30 yards

Middle 3
15 targets, 10 catches, 148 yards

Last 3
3 targets, 2 catches, 10 yards

So it looks like he found the groove for a minute and all but disappeared after. Yes he was more consistent in the return game, but as a receiver that inconsistency and ending isn't going to get you paid. And even if he had that middle production for all 9 games, it was still a good tick less than what he was doing here.

And on Vele, yes it took him a minute, but it also took a QB change to really get him going. Rattler was scared to throw into those middle seams, and that's where Vele thrives.

I'm not a Kamara hater, but honestly for long term purposes it might make sense to cut him and go with a guy like Walker who is 5 years younger.
