No sacks for Davenport. I'm officially worried.

I tried to keep an eye on Davenport during the game last night. He struggled and I had expected a breakout game. I'm officially worried we wasted those 17 first round picks.

On the bright side, Hendrickson is carrying over his momentum from the preseason. Maybe we got something there.

Did he get any pressure when the Saints brought that three defensive end blitz package? I remember Cam Jordan wrecking shop.

The Davenport / Hendrickson / Jordan package was deadly. Davenport needs to flash more, but he was far from a disappointment last night.

Dude is a bust. He should be strictly a pass rush DT on 3rd downs.

Hendrickson is clearly the better DE right now.

I thought he played a solid game...maybe not "first round pick" good, but solid.

Yeah he did. Tunsil completely owned him the whole night, but he seemed to help push the pocket and help open up lanes for others a couple times when going against other linemen. I know for sure he allowed for Cam to get one of his sacks by occupying two blockers.
There was another instance someone made a thread about that shows him getting held egregiously on the Stills TD

According to PFF:
quote:

Cameron Jordan came flying out of the gates with some early pass-rush wins. The Saints continued to pressure Deshaun Watson throughout the game with various stunts and blitzes. Youngsters Trey Hendrickson and Marcus Davenport were noticed around the quarterback as well.

He definitely is still raw/improving and he sorely missed Rankins helping dominate that middle in certain spots of the game. I keep holding out hope that it's all going to just click soon and he'll pop. But as of this moment, he hasn't been worth the picks.

It was a terrible trade the Saints made for this guy. He was not worthy of a first round pick much less 2. Even if he becomes serviceable down the road, this one will haunt the front office.

The NFL is a pass rush league and Davenport just doesn't have it, Hendrickson is clearly the better option opposite Cam going forward.

Starting to look like we won't see the value in the trade but he's not a bust.

He will be a solid player but never a Cam Jordan impact like we hoped for.

No he did not. He had the one really bad play where he crashed down, not keeping outside containment which allowed Watson to score but outside of that he was solid against the run. He also collapsed the pocket several times just missing Watson a few times.

I remember Cam Jordan doing the same for his first 2-3 years & many posters were calling him a bust. Jordan would cause tons of pressure but it didn't correlate into sacks yet on the otherhand Cam was great against the run. It's like we're watching that same thing here with Davenport yet some fans are already to label him a bust because of where he was taken in the draft & trading up to get him.

Hendrickson was all over the field. I have been a Davenport fan but he def needs to up his game. Watched him last night he looked lost. Was at game I made it a point to watch him and very disappointed. Hendrickson at this point looks like the bigger talent.

The Cam Jordan of the present wasn't the same Cam Jordan of his first few seasons. It took him awhile to become the pass rusher you see right now.

Cam played like a HOF last night. He couldn’t do anymore. Big push on every play. He also stays in running lines that he was assigned to,

Very true. I remember thinking if he was the a bust after two first few years.
