I know with the cap space it’s probably not going to happen but wouldn’t this guy be the perfect fit?

He’d be better than most available options. Perfect fit is a reach, but Id be happy to try.

He has a career W/L record under .500, never understood why he was considered even a top 16 QB. If that record and bad decision making is cool, why not get Darnold? Winston has a higher career winning percentage than Stafford for a lot less money, plus more potential.

Too much arm strength. Sean doesn't want.

There are better options. Plus offseason thread.

Ehh. He’s good. But on the decline. Maybe get 2-3 years of good left in him. His arm strength is still good. But we need a guy to build the franchise around for years to come.

The lions are a terrible organization man. Bad coaches, bad defenses, limited weapons outside of Calvin Johnson

bad decision making is cool

He has a career 2.3 int %, same exact career mark as Drew Brees

Agree with all of this. Stafford coming to Nola could be a blessing for both the Saints and himself. Theres a reason he’s had a 12 year career. Shitty QB’s dont stay with one franchise for that long.

Using w/l record for a qb is terrible. He is a very good qb. I hope we can get him. He would be great under payton. But the salary cap may prevent it. Look at the lions when stafford is hurt, it shows you his value

Nope, he's pretty much done too... wouldn't be anything more than what Rivers was for Indy this year.... good, but not good enough to put them over the top...

He is 32, far from done.

32 ain't the same for everybody bro... he's been sacked at least 37 times, each season, since 2014.. he's only two years removed from missing half the season with spinal fractures...

just saying, his 32 ain't got the same tread life that, say, Drew Brees had at 32...

I think he’s a viable option. Guy has played with shite o lines and has never had a running game. He had a couple impressive seasons under Caldwell. He’s known as a really hard worker. I think his downside is that he’s not the most vocal of leaders, but I attribute some of that to the culture at that dumpster fire of an organization.
You guys don’t think Payton could win with him?

I really want to know how long Payton plans on coaching. I know he said in one of the interviews after an extension, that it wouldn’t be forever. I can’t remember when that is or exactly what he said. I don’t want to even think about life after coach , but I think that will play in whether he tries to get a rookie or tries to reclaim another veteran.

Do you not see how talented he is and how accurate he is. He flashes it all the time. He and matt ryan are similar. A tier below where brees was a couple years ago. He is the best available we could get. Being with a shite organization without a good offensive mind has stunted his growth

I think he’s good for about three more years... enough time for us to figure out a way to draft/acquire a younger replacement.

The Saints can’t just have anyone at QB. They need a damn smart QB. Stafford is smart. But it could take us a few years to find another one smart enough for the job.
