I hate to be a negative nelly but the reason Mike has so many catches is because we don’t have a number 2 receiver. It could hurt us come playoffs and it’s something that needs to be addressed through the draft because we all know the saints refuse to make big moves in FA.

Or it means he’s always open so Brees throws him the ball. You don’t go to the second read if the first is open.

You’ll get killed for this but you are correct.

However, it doesn’t and shouldn’t take away from an incredible accomplishment. The guy is awesome.

Did you not watch Jared Cook this year?

13 games, 660 yards so far
Last 5, 380ish yards, 5 TDs

As long as he's healthy, this offense can handle playoff caliber defenses.

The issue is more about our OL (now down 2 starters)

Naw, you need to watch Brett Kollmann's breakdown of MT13. Thomas got the record because he literally can't be covered & he & Brees have an uncanny connection. Plus both understand the weaknesses of every coverage shown by the opposing defense.

Cook is the WR2 imo

He has 40 catches for over 600 yards and 8 TDs this year

Had he not missed 3 or 4 games and had a few drops he’d be sniffing 1000 yards

Jared Cook is excellent, but, I understand your point. I'd like to have more ball-catchers on Offense.

This was a valid criticism before Jared Cook became more comfortable in the offense. But the last month Drew has shown that he has trust in Cook and Cook has shown he can make plays.

Every. Single. Team. Knows we will throw to him. They know he's our only real option. What good did that do? They STILL can't guard Mike, he STILL hit the mark. Dude is special, he gets open. Stop finding a reason to devalue that. Yeah we need a solid #2 but that's NOT the reason he broke the record. 13 is a man among boys

Tiger rant gets a horrible rep but Saints talk is so much more hilarious during a game. It’s like you people have never watched nfl football before.

I mean outside of the falcons game once Brees has been back the offense has been more than fine. Putting up like 35 a game. Against solid defenses too.

Is our lack of a number 2 really a problem if we can’t be stopped?

But Cook, Taysom, and Kamara are all very viable passing game threats in their own right

You’re not totally wrong but if you look at the numbers as the season progressed I think (haven’t looked) that you’ll see him dropping off proportion wise and cool and smith catching more passes.

That’s a quick gut feeling, cook has definitely stepped up last third of the season.

He also runs the best routes in the NFL and constantly beats single coverage, bracket coverage, and zone coverage. They may have something to do with it too.

What does it matter if they can’t guard him? I mean they literally can’t stop him.
