His route running ability, reception hands, toughness etc. He's the best and just needs a bit of longevity to justify it.

His pace is bonkers right now but with 13 games remaining, he needs just 85 y/g to total 1500 receiving yards. Needs to avg 93 y/g to reach 1600 yards for season. Anything avg 100 y/g or more for rest of year would be straight up ridiculous.

ETA: 1400 yards makes a Saints record beating Horn's 1399

Another nugget:

If MT13 avg's 103 ish yards a game for next 13 games, he would have matched Odell Beckham's first 3 years of production in the league. 4,122 yards

Odell has a season high of 1450. Well within reach this year for MT.

They are going to eat PLENTY of cap space.

I wonder what he could land the Saints in a trade after the season? The money these elite WR's are making right now doesn't seem like a smart way to spend cap.

He is the greatest without a doubt in my mind. Will be the best receiver in the game if he stays healthy.

Had a great conversation with Saints receiver Michael Thomas on Sunday night, following another huge performance—his breakthrough this September has been downright Mahomesian. Thomas had another 10 catches for 129 yards in New Orleans’ scintillating 43-37 overtime win in Atlanta over the archrival Falcons. That puts Thomas—Keyshawn Johnson’s nephew—on pace for 202 catches, 2,122 yards and 16 touchdowns. Which would be noteworthy. Interesting thing was, as we talked, he kept attributing his success to the guy throwing him the ball. “I have a lot of respect for him as a quarterback,” Thomas said of Drew Brees. “I feel like he doesn’t get the respect he deserves. I feel like I’ve been brought here to send him out the right way, and that’s what I want to do, getting him to that championship, play at a high level every week like he does. I’m trying to match him. He has all these records, he doesn’t make many mistakes, and he’s throwing it to me—we should make the play.” Brees, by the way, needs 417 yards to surpass Peyton Manning for No. 1 on the all-time passing yardage list.

More than likely we will pay our skill guys and save on QB. Most teams are moving to a QB on a rookie pay scale, with money spent elsewhere. We are most likely going to be in that same position when Brees retires.

Agreed. Enjoy him while we can, because his contract demands will be too huge to accommodate.

those threads on draft night with people angered we drafted a WR would be solid bumps. Loved the pick then

I think he said that about Cooks

Cooks is now one of the big play WRs

I think we'll end up paying Mike Thomas, & then just surround him with a bunch of cheap options...like this year (Ginn, Meredith, Tre'Quan, & Carr). Our TE's are good bargain contracts as well (Watson & Josh Hill).

Our passing game would be very average without Thomas. I'd bet that we pay Kamara as well, & team him with good value contract RB's.

I’m sorry nobody will ever top Joe Horn but that’s just my opinion

Give him Prime Brees and he’d definitely put up better stats than both MT and Colston..

Downvote all you want but y’all know it’s true look what he did with Aaron fricking Brooks

Nothing wrong with mentioning Horn. Horn is in the discussion.

Top 4 (no order)
Mike Thomas
Colston
Horn
Eric Martin

I'll take Thomas over them all though. Thomas was even better than Cooks & Snead in 2016 (Thomas' rookie year).

You can throw in Jimmy Graham if you count the TE position. That would be our top 5 imo.

38 catches on 40 targets is unbelievable. Brees - Thomas best WR/QB duo in NFL right now
