Im a general football fan. I dont have a favorite team, and live in a house with all saints fans. I go to saints games, and pull for the saints when they play. I was in the dome when the saints beat the vikings to go to the superbowl. Far from a saints hater.. I just dont get the "haha vikings lost, last week means nothing" angle. Last week cost the saints a superbowl trip. They were 60yds and 10 seconds from a nfc champ game to send brees to the bowl to beat tom brady and cement his name as one of the best ever. And then minny miracle happend (and now all of a sudden it didnt) saints still lost. That didnt change. That one miracle cost the saints a superbowl shot.

You being a general football fan and have to live with a Saints fans makes me think you probably secretly hate the Saints. It sucks we lost last week. Not sure what some of y’all are so upset about, especially you being a “general football fan.” If I was told I won a million $ and went to go pick it up only to be told it was all a lie. I’d be devastated. If a week later someone gave me $10,000, I’d still be devastated but thankful for the 10 grand. That’s kinda like how I feel about Vikings losing tonight.

not at all. My parents are from nola, my grandparents are from nola. My wife from slidell. I grew up in a saints household, and always pull for saints. I just dont have (team) i am emotionally attached to in the nfl. I still have saints tickets yearly. Im just speaking on the facts that last week didnt mean anything is comical. It meant everything. Everyone, especially saints fans know how hard it is to get to the superbowl. And had it set up to play nick foles to get to the superbowl to play probably the pats worst defense they have had in a bowl. That one play ruined everything, so i just dont get how it means nothing now.

Yeah the minny (very small) miracle happend.

It’s insignificant. You don’t get it.

The Saints weren’t supposed to be going to the Super Bowl.

Next season, we will be healthy and the favorite, this is important in the NFL.

You are misinterpreting what meaning nothing means. It means a lot in the sense of it knocked us out of the playoffs, obviously. It’s just not a play that is gonna be in the nfl pages of greatest plays or talked about by sports analysts 25 years from now. It may be some, but nothing like if Vikings went on to win a SB. Nobody but 49ers and Saints fans give a shite about what VD did in playoffs in 2012, or Saints and Rams when Hakim dropped the ball.

Outside of Saints and 49ers fans, who really remembers the 2011 divisional game and the Vernon Davis touchdown and how big a part of NFL playoff lore is it?

The Marcus Williams frick up will share the same distinction as a footnote in NFL history.

Nobody cares who you grew up with or what your connection is with the saints. It really doesn't give you any more credibility.

I’m sorry Vikings broke your heart, even though you are just a general fan. Saints will be back next year, and even better, I’m sorry.

From a Saints perspective though, you don't get many chances as a wild card to go through two teams road stadiums with a backup QB to get to Super Bowl.

It was an opportunity missed for sure.

It only means they went one game farther than the Saints did.

I've said this since we lost how we did against Minnesota for a few reasons: we still had that core of supreme talent, we would've hosted the NYG and there was absolutely no way they beat us in the Dome that season, we would've beaten the Pats and Brees would've had 2 SB wins in 3 years against the guys who were always "better" than him in Manning and Brady, and finally we go into 2012 as defending SB champs with a chance to defend our title as the SB was played in Nola. Bountygate never happens as well.

It still means the Saints gift wrapped the game for Minny on the last play.
