I've known that's a rule for 20 years
I was responding to people being stupid about it in real time on here. I just looked up the actual rule a few min ago b/c people kept fighting me over it

He didn't word it well, and should have focused on the defender and not the QB's intent, but the rule is clear.

I’ve seen QBs hit as they’re throwing the ball, ball goes backwards and out of bounds. Why is the ball spotted where it goes out of bounds?
