Jesus. You people are insufferable.

Listen to Hesters podcast last night. You’ve got to take the game for what it is. Having that happen as a player on the field is deflating.

Yes the Saints had chances. But if that call goes correctly, the Saints have a better than 90% chance at winning that football game. And it wasn’t a judgment call, or a marginal call. It was text book.

frick this argument. So you’re saying we “should’ve won” in the first fricking quarter by scoring touchdowns instead of field goals?

You don’t thunk that would’ve changed the rams play calling a bit if we were to score touchdowns that early on? Who knows how quickly they would’ve responded.

What I do know is that HOW THW frickING GAME WENT DOWN IN REALITY, is that we were set up PERFECTLY to win the game. And we got robbed.

So frick you will wade. We lost the game on the most IMPACTFUL and INFUENTIAL call of the game.

That guy is a complete fricking imbecile.

Yes, and everything the Saints did up to that point allowed them to run the clock down, kick a short field goal and win if not for gross incompetence by the refs.

His statement is true.glaring idiocy.

That was not the perfect play.

If the Saints ran on 3-straight plays you force the rams to use both timeouts & worst case scenario you kick a 25-ya field goal & give the Rams the ball with roughly 1:05 left on the clock, down by 3 with no timeouts.

Instead you throw the ball twice (1st & 3rd down) both of which are incomplete, including the missed penalty call, this stopping the clock & giving the Rams the ball with 1:45 left & a timeout instead of 1:05 & no timeouts.

Our defense played great, much better than the offense. I would have rather relied on them at that point then have Drew Brees try to force the ball in the endzone

DPI was part of the plays design so the call worked to perfection minus the blatant cheating.

The rams would still have moved the ball enough with over a minute to play to kick a FG

Could the saints have been in a better position to solidify the win? Sure.

We’re they in a great position to win and had it stolen from them? Yes. That is all that matters. The refs directly affected the outcome of the game.

Their defense was so confused, their CB had to "hack" Lewis to stop us from executing the play.

How does this have anything to do with that not being the perfect play? Do you know how to argue?

Coach-speak. And he's young.

While he is accurate that every play matters in championship games, he misses the fact that the outcome of every play matters to shape the desired outcome at the end of the game.

So, while plays were not perfect throughout earlier gameplay, a captain gets the most out of his players WHEN IT'S ABSOLUTELY NEEDED TO WIN in that last series of downs! The Saints offense responded and was not rewarded because of officiating malfeasance. Period.

This seems like a really dumb thing to say for an LSU coach. Does he realize his fan base is primarily saints' fans that are pretty emotional about this now?

Agreed. Thats why I never blame the refs. There are too many other plays in a game to blame the ref for one play.

If not for the PI it would’ve been a TD

So what’s the Rams’ excuse? Had they not also essentially lost the game already before that hideous no-call?

They had to settle for field goals, they missed some big defensive plays, and they had more than their share of 3-and-outs. And regardless of the Saints’ own missed opportunities, the Saints were nonetheless driving for the go-ahead score and would have had a 1st-and-goal inside the 5 with well under 2 minutes left in regulation. That scenario gives the Saints, at minimum, a 98% likelihood of winning. Had the Rams’ DB not trucked Tommylee Lewis with a blow to the head before the ball was even in camera range, the game was effectively over and the Saints wouldn’t have lost a damn thing other than some ultimately pointless stat padding.

Anyone who is seriously trying to say that the Rams deserved it more because they were about to lose, cheated blatantly out of desperation, and got away with it is a fraud and an idiot. Because at that point that is literally the only play that was going to give the Rams anything more than a minuscule chance to mount a comeback.

Also, how many media personalities would be playing apologist for the Saints if the shoe were on the other foot? Not many, I’m guessing.
