Due to the recent mahomes thread that has been bumped it made me realize that we were 1 pick away from getting Mahomes and Kamara in the same draft. Sean would have been on ring #3 by now

Even without Mahomes it is still the best draft class of all time

It is a fun rabbit hole to go down

If we pick Mahomes, you can assume at a minimum he follows the KC path of sitting a year.

He competes with Brees in 2018, but probably loses out. Assuming NOLA no call still happens, Saints may very well have moved on from Brees at end of season.

Mahomes with the rest of our team intact provides the dimension Brees couldn't in the 2019 and 2020 playoffs, we probably win at least one super bowl.

Sean is here for another 5-10 years.

Brees contract was up after the 2017 season so it’s very easy to see a scenario where they let him walk and going with Mahomes in 2018 though they were a whiffed tackle away from the NFCCG in 17. I’m sure there would have been wide spread melting and questioning of a move like that

I was responding to the guy that said they would compete for the job in 2018. Brees signed a new 2 year deal for 2018-19. Do they do that if they draft Mahomes? Try and get Brees to do a 1 year deal? No way to know of course but my guess is if Mahomes is blowing them away in practice they politely tell Brees thanks for your service you can go somewhere and set your records and we’ll welcome you back to retire as a Saint at least that’s how it goes in my alternate universe

Brees goes to Minnesota after that contract IMHO.

its top competition would have been 1981

George Rodgers, Russell Gary, Rickey Jackson, Frank Warren, Hoby Brenner, Johnny Poe, Hokie Gajan, and Jim Wilkes.

Not to mention all that money freed up if we don’t pay Brees, and have a starting QB on a rookie contract.

Marshon Lattimore is on a $97.5 mil contract
Ramcyzk $96 mil
Alvin $75 mil
Williams about to get ~ $60 mil
Hendrickson $60 mil

shite even looks like Anzalone and AQM going to hang around the league for awhile as well. Truly an unprecedented class

There is a chance in a year or 2 the 2017 class has the best CB, OT, FS, and RB (with a top-10 edge thrown in for fun) in the NFL that year.

That's fricking mental.
