Interesting… if I’m Dennis Allen I like the idea of having a high draft pick guy on the roster just in case Winston shits the bed.

So you like the idea of spending a 1st on a “just in case” guy when we desperately need receivers? I’m glad you’re not calling the shots

I've said it before, no QB in this draft class is a year 1 starter. If Winston bombs, or gets reinjured, the season is likely over. The Saints would just ride out the rest and give the young guy meaningful experience. The smarter move is a WR or OT, and a RB in later rounds to give Winston the best shot to succeed.

4 picks in the top 100 (basically) allow you to take a chance on a qb in the first round if you add a FA tackle and wr

For the record, I rather get a left tackle or receiver in the first round.
With that said, I would not fault the organization on going after Picket. He is an older rookie. A lot of the organizations have him in late 1st round or early second. He plays a position that commands the most money. So having him on a 5 year rookie deal, benefits the team. This years draft is loaded with quality receivers and tackles.

But if a guy like Matt Corral or Carson Strong is still around in the 3rd round I wouldn’t mind that either
Our first 2 rounds need to be guys that can contribute as soon as possible. WR/T/Safety

Funny two years ago I said we needed to draft Jefferson in the first and was told we didn’t need a receiver, needed a linebacker.
Last year I said we should have drafted Moehrig in the first, we didn’t.
And now two years later, those are some of our biggest needs….

Don't think this is close to happening. I'm hearing some saying Corral is the best coming in, especially when it comes to high ceiling.

That's because nobody takes the town drunk seriously

No pretty sure the smarter move is to try and find a franchise QB. If he's there at 18 you draft him and have him sit a year to learn.

I would have a hard time sending a first on any of these QBs TBH. If Corral had not been hurt I would maybe considered him.
That being said, I wouldn't melt with the pick, even I would prefer something else.

This is how teams jump up and draft your player ahead of you.

I’m not saying Pickett is a franchise type QB, but if you think he is it’s a no brainer to draft him.
Obviously the Saints don’t currently believe Winston is a franchise type QB. He’s a placeholder until you find that guy.

Maybe we're smart enough to hide our real intentions. Maybe we will be the ones trading up

WR is deep AF - there will be plenty available on Day 2 and beyond.

So a guy who just has a roster spot because he is a jack of all trades and only played quarterback because the coach had a hard on for him and lied to him can come in for an injured quarterback and almost get us to the post season but someone who is being drafted because they are actually a quarterback comes in we should just cancel the season?
