Jeremy Fowler says Saints really don’t want to fire DA

Unfortunately unless the Saints get blown out these last 4 games seems like DA might be back. Which is sad considering hes done a horrible job this season. I just am flabbergasted that anyone looks at this team and thinks DA has this team going in the right direction. Also, all this may change after 4 games and not sure how credible Fowler is.

I don’t expect them to fire Allen unless they lose out. And really I think it’s better for a franchise to give their coaches time. I don’t think Allen deserves it because he’s genuinely a bad head coach, but I understand them wanting to give their head coach more than two seasons. Especially with Carr on the books. I don’t see it making sense to jettison Allen when you’re saddling the next guy with Carr’s horrible contract.

It’s a good ole boys club in the Saints front office and Allen is a part of it. He’s not going anywhere.

Eh two wrongs dont make a right in my opinion. Just cause you’re stuck with Carr doesn’t mean you have to keep DA. If anything it might be better for a new head coach who doesn’t have ties to Carr to assess him more fairly than DA. A new coach also might draft a qb even with Carr on the team. Carr is a bad qb and a bad leader- I don’t think that’ll magically change next season even if we get a new off coord and keep DA.

Not sure i believe this. Loomis has said as recently as last year that they do their end of the year evaluations a few weeks after the season. If thats the case, i dont think Loomis and company know what they will do yet much less Fowler knows.

They may ultimately keep him. But everything i saw from Fowler just reads as speculation and not as someone who has spoken with anyone.

No I’m rooting for losses. Because if they lose these next 4 games and they’re bad losses- it’ll give more incentive for Mickey to fire DA and make this team better.

Yeah I don’t think any evaluation has been made as of yet and like I said I’m not sure I trust Fowler. That being said this could just be more of temperature check currently on where Loomis is right now and how he views DA and his job status. Like I said these 4 games will likely determine DAs season but unless he gets blown out in all 4- my gut tells me DA will be back although I would prefer otherwise.

When is Dennis Lauscha gonna step in and take care of this crap. That is who we need to be calling for to make a move if Loomis doesn't.

Why delay the inevitable?
Reich didn't even last a season.
Why did Loomis go this route to begin with? Especially after hiring Sean Payton. Why would you not go back to that formula? Give me a young offensive minded coordinator that is a rising star over this. And if he fails he fails, but Allen has shown who he is as a HC.

D.A. will and should be given an opportunity to make the necessary changes to his staff to get the Saints back on track.
If he doesn't feel that changes are necessary or simply chooses to not make those changes then Mickey (Or whomever the GM is at the time ) will be given the chance to make the necessary changes to the staff to get the Saints back on track.

If he goes 8-9 (which I think he will), he will have gone 15-19 (44% win percentage) in two seasons. Nothing to write home about, but not Hue Jackson bad. I 100% believe he didn't fire Pete Carmichael during the season because he will use him as an out to buy himself another year. He can say he tried to do it the Sean Payton way, but it doesn't work and he wants to revamp the offense to match his D.

There are plenty of good coordinators in the league. But realistically Allen’s job might come down to the market for coaches. I’m sure they’ve started gauging interest. Unfortunately we have an aging roster without a lot of young talent and no cap space. Not sure how attractive the job is.
