He obviously won’t be asking for or getting 12/year. He will be seeking Melvin Gordon money (8 per)
I don’t see him wanting less than 10. He is more talented than Gordon.
Gordon got 8 bc he sat out a few games then was terrible when he came back and was completely outshined by Ekeler. Gordon was offered 10 a year from the Chargers before he held out but he got greedy.

Can't think of a worse fit dollar for dollar than Fournette. What about anything we've done on offense since 06 says anything about utilizing a player with the running style of Fournette?

What in his past would make you think that? I mean, his best football was played in La. I don't ever remember him being an off-the-field problem at LSU.

Let him go somewhere in the AFC so we dont have to deal with him.

The Saints definitely need a worn down back with a bad attitude

I like our current 3rd stringer just fine

No he is probably going to want to get paid. We might as well keep Kamara if we plan on paying a running back
They can pay both of them. Fournete would be a great addition as he would be younger than Murray and could fill the role Ingram played.
He is also an outstanding receiver and could keep the heat off Winston or Hill.
I agree he should not have been so vocal about his issues in Jacksonville, but much of it is frustration they have not surrounded him with a better passing attack. This would not be the case with Payton
An added bonus is to be able to use Kamara in the passing game more ,even at wide receiver spots with Fournette absorbing the bulk o the running game. Kamara could stay healthier and fresher and prolong his career.. Loot of upside with the move.

I highly doubt they want to pay the starting RB $10M/yr and the backup at least $7-8M/yr. Because I doubt Fournette is going to go for a much lower price.

His combination of speed and power is a nightmare in the open field.
Man, I don't think there's a LB or CB in the NFL that wants to tackle him at full speed. Give him a clean line and allow him to get to the second level and he would be lethal.

Are you for real?!?? Lmao. Give him an o line

He may be a little worn down with some injuries, but the injuries so far are not something that a 25yr old power back couldn't overcome. Like others have said the Jags have had predictable power run offense since Fournette came into the league with no threat of a passing game and a very subpar o-line and despite that he still has averaged 4.0 yards per carry thus far in his career. Think about the power backs who have succeeded in somewhat recent memory in an offense like that, Adrian Peterson at Minnesota and now Derrick Henry in Tennessee. So he's not on the same level as an all time great HOF back and a damn phenom of a human being in Derrick Henry, he sure must suck huh!
Genuine question where does all the "bad attitude" stuff come from exactly? I remember his rookie year sleeping late and missing a meeting or something, and last year he argued with one of their OTs for being undisciplined and causing a penalty when they were trying to salt the game away but that's all I can think of offhand.

Fournette is done. His body has not held up to his physical style of play. Do injury prone running backs tend to get better with age?

He's gotten 1000 yards in 2 out of 3 seasons. He played in 8 games in 2018 because he strained his Hamstring and came back too soon and strained it again.
He gets nicked up yeah, but to say he's not held up is a stretch. He had more yards total and more per carry this year. He'd be an upgrade over Murray and I like Murray.

Look, he isn't my favorite player...
but...
He had 341 touches last year

Saints havent had a player touch the ball that much in 17 years.
Kamara's season high for touches is 275, for example.
body breaking down lol

Didn't he have the best year of his career last year?
Posted on 5/4/20 at 1:19 pm to Fun Bunch
So Aaron in 22 and Fournette in 21.
Boy you people really plan ahead.

Yea, 1674 yards from scrimmage
Would have been 6th best single season in Saints history.
His team sucked bad to. Again not my favorite guy but if you hit the number you have to work

He was 6th in the NFL in yards from scrimmage last season and caught over 70 passes. He was very productive. Unfortunately it was for a team that wasn't very good.
However, as is the case with RB's, a team has to decide if they want to invest heavily in that position knowing that (a) RB production often goes down quicker than most positions and (b) a RB is looking to score probably the biggest deal of his career because he knows that 2nd contract is probably the best chance he has to cash in.
I don't think it is so much a matter of Jacksonville not wanting him. It's that they've likely decided they aren't going to invest heavily in the position and are unwilling to give LF what he is looking for at the moment.
