Is there reason to get excited about the 2023 season?

As a Saints fan, I don’t see any reason for excitement in 2023.

Yes

New QB hopefully.

Last season of some old bloated contracts.

Hope for 0-7 start and fire DA immediately

Build assets to attract new coach

Division will be wide open, especially if Brady leaves or retires. Anything can happen once you get to the post season. Saints will be favored to win the division if Brady leaves and we sign Carr.

I will get excited when it is announced that Pete Carmichael is going to join Payton's staff and we can hire a real play caller to go with our new QB.

I don't trust Loomis to get us out of the cap debt that he got us in. I don't trust Loomis for anything at this point. if Ireland leaves, we're screwed.

It will probably be Allen's last season.

There is some perverse enjoyment in tanking.

Yes.

Absolutely.

The mock schedule threads are the best.

Well the Saints are still in New Orleans. That's exciting in and of itself.

Rebuilds are exciting if you can temper your expectations for the next two season and see how things shake out and come together.

If you're just a wins/losses kind of person, might want to take a break for a while and check back in in 2025.

Overall look at roster still says yes, despite the cap situation currently being what it is Loomis/Hartley will get it under.

But beneath the surface looking at Pete Carmichael calling the plays with presumably Andy Dalton still at QB is not a good combo, like at all. Like I've said before Dalton still can play, game manager, on a good defensive team like the Eagles or 49ers and I do believe they would still be in the NFC Champ & Super Bowl like they are now. But not with Carmichael calling plays, with this defense even though it's not bad it's just not great.

If I'm Dennis Allen at this point I basically feel like I'm playing with house money and I'd rather take a flyer on a young OC and bring back Winston or somebody like Carr and let him sling it. He may have some INTs, but he'll also have a hell of a highlight reel and it ultimately does not matter if we don't do well in 2023 because then we'd be firing Dennis Allen and cleaning house. Anything above 5 wins next year is a plus

As long as the Saints sweep the Falcs, I'm happy.

Is it Super Bowl or bust every year for you?

Our roster is good enough to compete for the division next year.

So if the coaching and QB play improves then we can be excited about making the playoffs.

If those don't improve then we can be excited about higher draft picks, potentially firing DA, trading off the aging star players in 2024, and seeing if there's any young talent that can help us win after 2023.

Are you excited to see the Saints play football? If so, you'll be excited later this year.

Are you the type that only gets excited if the Saints win a couple of games in the Playoffs? If so, you will not be excited this year.

I was hoping for at least a new OC.

Now the only hope left is QB.

I’m the type that likes to see the Saints, at the very least, compete for a playoff spot every year. I think that’s pretty much the case for every fan.

Then you are in luck.

The Saints did compete for a Playoff spot this past season, so, you were excited. Later this year, the Saints will start a new season and again compete for a Playoff spot. However, the Saints will not do very well in the Playoffs, even if they are in the Playoff tournament.
