MT is gonna get his before the season starts.

We all know Alvin is a flat out stud. Best in the league and you cannot let him go.

Ram is also top tier and will be for another 5-7 at least.

Lattimore is a stud also but there is only so much to go around

easy answer is yes.

money can always be moved around and the saints are actually in a good cap situation.

this is the make it or break it year for armstead.

Really depends on how much we end up spending at QB after Drew. If we go with Teddy it'll be more expensive than trying to find someone in the draft

Does Teddy stick around if Brees doesn't retire after this season?

I believe we can. I'd have to check but I don't think top RBs are pulling in the kind of money anymore that is going to eat up a large portion of a team's cap space. Ram is a RT, not a LT, so his shouldn't be astronomical either. Lattimore is going to be expensive due to CB being a premium position.

Sheldon Rankins is another one that the team will have to make a decision on in the next couple of years. When healthy he's a beast in the middle but he's suffered significant injuries in two of his three seasons here. He missed most of his rookie season, missed the NFC championship game, and now will miss a good portion of this upcoming season.

Other young players with upcoming contract decisions:

Andrus Peat
Marcus Williams
Vonn Bell
Eli Apple
David Onyemata
Alex Anzelone

Yes. Drew will be off the books and Loomis will work his magic.

you mean least expendable i assume

PFF's highest graded CB in the NFC south in 2018

Locked down in the playoffs

quote:

Marshon Lattimore locked it down in the playoffs this year.

- 82.9 overall grade (2nd among playoff CBs)
- 3 catches allowed on 7 targets
- 2 INTs
- 32.7 passer rating allowed
- 9 total tackles (8 solo)

Lowest passer rating allowed CBs over the last 5 years, minimum 1000 coverage snaps

Sherman - 64.5
Bouye - 66.8
Lattimore - 68.8

23 games of allowed 50 yards in less in primary coverage

I think we can, if Drew is off the books and we have a rookie QB. If we’re paying Teddy 20 mil/yr (which is what a vet starter gets), forget it.

Ram and Lattimore have 5th year options the team can easily pick up pushing them off a year from Kamara. AK is also a year after Thomas meaning both could in theory be franchise tagged in their first FA year without affecting the other.

I think Ram will be fine as he'll shift into the position held by Armstead as far as current money being shifted. Armstead will not get that same amount of money again with his injury issues.

Also remember that the Cap keeps going up each seasons, sometimes significantly. It is possible, but the Saints will need to continue hitting on their draft picks.

RT is actually the premier OL position in today's game, so I would pay him "LT money"

It depends on if the QB is right handed or left handed

Think about all the best pass rushers in the league. They all line up on the strong side nowadays: Von Miller, Cam Jordan, JJ Watt, Danielle Hunter, etc.

Think Kollmann mentions it in here LINK

Less so every year.

Great pass rushers are being spread across the line much more and the blind side isn’t quite as scary as it once was.

Won’t be popular but I’d run Kamara into the absolute ground through his rookie deal and maybe a tag and then take the 3rd round comp pick letting him walk IF I had to choose the most expendable of the group.

He will also be the cheapest by about 50% so it might not be unmanageable

Yes but in order to compete in life after Brees we will have to bank on the cap continuing its steady increase or bank on getting a decent rookie QB on a rookie deal.

You’ll also likely see us part ways with guys like Armstead, Davis, Klein, Ginn, Lat Murray and Cook in 2-3 years in order to make room. The only one out of those I could see us not paying is Lattimore. CB’s are some of the most sought after FA targets and I’m thinking he could want to leave for more money. Ram, Thomas and Kamara will be here for a long time though

Lattimore is arguably the best corner to ever play for the saints.

Saints' scouting department has shown a better propensity for finding quality offensive lineman in the draft than they have skill position players. The few times they do hit on skill players they need to retain them at all costs. Especially a HoF level talent like Thomas.
