I'm thinking the Saints will sign Winston to a 3 year deal

3 years at probably $20-$22M a season. With this year being a bust for quarterbacks, and honestly Winston playing pretty damn good (12 TDs to 3 INTs), this seems like the smart move and would give us time to either commit to Winston long term or draft his replacement.

Both players complain about lack of offensive weapons, and you think they come here?

Payton looks like he wants to rip Jameis' head off after every offensive sequence.. even when we score

I think that is logical. Like you said, lock down a QB to hopefully keep building the offense around; and it gives you the ability to keep looking for that next guy.

For the poster that said it will be Wilson or A-Rod, I think you can rule A-Rod out. He'll be 38 going into next season, and has been checked out the past few offseasons. I doubt Payton wants to put his team into the hands of someone that he may not be out of the league in a few years. I think part of what made him like Winston (& Bridgewater) is how young they are 27 (& 28). If he can develop them, he has his QB locked down for the next decade.

Wilson is intriguing because you're probably looking at at least 1 more extension, but at what cost. You need to give you draft capital in a time that you are in cap hell and need those picks to lower your cap burden; then you still have to pay a top salary. I just don't see it happening, as much as this entire fanbase would love for it to happen.

Lmao. What about for our TE slot? Tonyan was the leading TD receiver for Rodgers last year, you don't think he likes to throw to a big body TE in the red zone?

Would like to see Winston with Michael Thomas to get a better judgment
He’s doing this with wide receivers signed as free agents after draft

Interesting. How do you come to the numbers of 20-22 million a year?

Similar to what Bridgewater got with the Panthers. Originally thought $25-28, but that just seemed too high

Little different circumstances. Offering jameis a 20 mill a year contract after being here for 2 years is a bit insulting.

Tbh A-a-ROD might require his new team to take his friend as well (Devonte Adams).

Most probable. They team up well.

Winston does look improved, something is still a tick off. Offense isn’t flowing like it can. Hopefully a full compliment of offensive talent helps

If he is your long term answer (more than one or two years max) the bottom will be 25. There isn't one starting QB in the NFL on a long term non rookie deal at less that 25 mil a year. Might sound expensive but that is what starting QBs get paid. If Winston doesn't regress and continue to improve I guarantee he will get at least that somewhere if not here next year. He'll only be 28 next season.
