Vilma isn't going anywhere.

I don't think last year was a good year to judge the shockey trade.....if he doesn't contribute this year, THEN, I'd say it was a bad deal.

I think Loomis has been pretty solid.

is this really the argument for loomis?

brees looks great, but we only got him because the dolphins' Drs would not let saban sign him

otherwise that list is

they could literally pay him a $30M roster bonus and still have $30M in cap room left

I was thinking the same thing they could have paid haynesworth and villa this year with huge roster bonuses and had them really cheap rest of way but don't know bout 7 yr deal for haynes will still cost at least 8m to cut with two yrs left on deal

i dont think he goes to tampa. he won't take the money to switch to OLB, and i can guarantee you they're not doing anything with the man they've got in the middle.

If Vilma leaves, then the Saints basically lost him so they could have Shockey. They lost the best defensive player on a team that desperatly needs defense for a TE. That and they gave up a 3rd round pick to add insult to injury. That is a terrible deal. Loomis needs to be shown the door if this happens.

Don't absolve Payton of blame neither. remember, he was the one who pushed for us to get Shockeye, as well as to sign some other losers on our team (Grant anyone?). Loomis just trusts in his coach/scouting staff. They are all to blame for some major blunders, IMO.

Loomis is just a bean counter. He has very little insight to actual personnel performance issues.

Outside of the Grant and Smith deals... i don't think you can make that kind of statement against Loomis.

They signed Vilma, but even if the Saints did lose Vilma what could Loomis have done? We are up to our neck in cap meaning we can't compete with Tampa's cap and signing him before FA would mean paying and having to give up a 1st. Vilma is a good LB, but its too much.

Not trade for a guy who will be a free agent after 1 season?
