I think it could go either way. Cousins pre injury was better than Carr but who knows now. Both teams have a 9-8ish absolute ceiling to me and will get obliterated by anyone with a real pulse.
Agree with that. Cousins improves atl for sure, but nobody in the south is a real contender.

3rd, but within range of 2nd.
Tampa with Baker was beatable this year. I think we will be worse. They might be too.
Atlanta will be the clear frontrunner.

I know it was a four-year deal that cousins signed but for how much?

4 years - $180M
Have seen it reported with $40M of that guaranteed, and $50M guaranteed.

It’s not the 2010s. Shawn Payton and Drew Brees feasted when people underestimated them. Let’s be real here. Nothing about the organization as is has this identity.

Cousins off a torn achilles at 36 years old, for 45 million a year.
LOL.
Me thinks the Vikings knew Kirk was too beat up to resign.
Carr may be in the same shape in the 3 years or so. But he’s currently going to be 33 next year. And not coming off a major injury, like an achilles.

Sometimes in days of great peril one must, yes must sacrifice himself to the greater good. Its our motto at Castle Anthrax...nay our code.

Said this in another thread and guess I have to say it again:
Some of yall in this thread are a complete embarrassment.
Cousins is the exact definition of a career average QB, is 36 years old, and is coming off an Achilles tear. I'm not even calling the Saints being a great team next year, but anyone giving up the division to the Falcons already because they signed an overrated Cousins is a gigantic fricking pussy.

We don't have the power to give any team sh!t. Just predictions in the off season. As to Cousins being over rated I don't know what you are referencing. He's just a very good QB coming off injury to me.
4 pro bowls
Stat Cousins Total All-Time Rank
Passing Touchdowns 252 23rd
Interceptions 105 114th
Passing Yards 37,140 28th
Passer Rating 97.8 8th
Completion Percentage 66.8% 6th
Just don't see him as average like you do. But each year is a new year sport. He could excel he could fail. Its why we watch.

This board last year: omfg we got David Carr!!!! We now have the best qb in a bad division. South locked up!!!
This year: yall scared of cousins? Dude is so mediocre !
We were in win now mode, split 2 games with them, and finished one game above them as they were in rebuild mode with a horrific QB. Be honest with yourself, would you trade our current situation for theirs ?

Right because they have better options like Sam Darnold

Cousins is not elite, he’s the next tier but that’s a tier above Carr. Atlanta was 7-10 (1-1 against the Saints) last year with Ridder and Hienke. Coming off injury is a question and a big risk perhaps but if he is healthy and he plays close to how he has the last few years why can’t they win 2-3 more games and win the division?

I guess my question would be where was this sense of urgency last offseason when they needed a quarterback I mean they didn't really think Ridder was going to be the guy did they?
They had a pretty big negative cap number going into the 2023 offseason as well. IMO they chose to clear the cap like Tampa Bay did and ride with what they had. It kinda worked out for the Bucs, not so much for Atlanta. In the end they are in a much better position now as they cleared up a lot of their cap problems and have money to spend this off season. they also have a much better ideal of there their roster is which is why they sent a dump truck of cash to Cousins house.

I'm optimistic and I'm convinced that the Saints will NOT finish 3rd in the NFC South.
Second Place Saints are a lock.
