Rewatched last night too. I’ve been pretty down about my sports teams lately with LSU basketball and the Saints both sucking and the pels catching the Michael Thomas flu so I watched a bunch of Brees era Saints highlights to cheer me up.

I remember that entire day like it was yesterday I’ve never been so excited in my life. Wish I could have been in the dome to experience that game in person but I still had a helluva time at the party I attended to watch it.

Which is it?

I don't think many people would considered an incomplete deep pass as "a mistake".

Just off the top of my mind, I would put Marshall Faulk ahead of Pierre Thomas.

Yeah I chuckled at the Thomas claim as well

Yeah it pains me to say that the Vikings were the better team.

So glad we won!!!!

Vikings were VERY good. Saints played really tight on offense, like every play was a potential mistake.

If AP doesn’t fumble and Favre just runs for 5 yards instead of forcing that throw that Porter snagged, Vikings likely win. Vikings might have been the better team by that point of the season, but they made bigger mistakes. Saints played tight, but they kept everything in front of them and that was enough to win.

I’m loved the Super Bowl win, but that game was so huge. Hard to put it into words what that meant for lifelong Saints fans.

Pierre Thomas is that one player whose stats never lined up with my perceived impact he had on games.

We lost a super bowl the moment he was concussed against the 49ers

A lot of Saints fans were praying before that Favre INT. It was all about to end. What a game and finish!

I watched that game by myself because I honestly was afraid, we'd lose.

And even if I wanted to invite someone over, I was living off the radar from friends and family. Dauphin Island, Alabama.

But when the Saints prevailed it was just phone calls and text messages and that just wasn't the best way to celebrate.

For the Super Bowl, I did go to a nice size party and that sure as hell beat the hell out of what I missed out on for the NFCCG.

The noise was unbelievable. What was crazy was exiting the Dome and walking down Poydras through the CBD to the quarter. Cars were stopped. People were jumping on stopped cars. It was nuts.

I was living in Houston. Watched the game with sone friends at a place called Orleans Seafood Kitchen in Katy. Tons of saints fans there.

When Hartley lined up to kick the FG, I turned away from the tv and closed my eyes. I figured the crowd in the restaurant would tell me what happened.

Place went ballistic.

Ain’t gonna lie, I cried so much my wife had to drive us home.

That was a magical night.
After the thrilling win we paraded from the Dome to the French Quarter where we partied until all hours of the night and next morning, just like we did when LSU won their two National Championships there.

It was like Mardi Gras X 10.

Great analysis. I feel like the Vikings had/ and have always in many ways been a thorn in our side from the Saints very first playoff to even this damn year.
But that game was special. Extra nice to have that game. Kinda makes up for all of the other losses to them in my eyes.
I have lots of my Norwegian family in Minnesota. They are still bitter lemme tell you.
