Gave up half the draft for Trautman and Braun?

I mean, they are solid picks for their draft position, but half the draft? I just dunno, man

The price you have to pay to get the guys you want. We also got those guys and only gave up a third next year

Reports show that Saints were going after Baun heavy in the second and nearly gave up a lot more. We lucked out. We even tried to get 32 from Kansas

I’m with you. Love Ruiz and Baun, but explain how the TE was worth what we gave up, and the qb trade...wtf?

we needed a starting caliber LB this year and got one + Demario Davis is expiring

Cook is expiring and TEs usually take at least a year to develop

4th, 5th, 6th, 7th rounders are not sure things and if all three of these guys had a 2nd round grade or higher...Saints since Ireland have a pretty remarkable track record with players that grade in that range

brah half y'all MFers need to just go ahead and apply for jobs in the front office

y'all are mad, but don't really understand the thought process behind giving up those garbage picks for two guys they really coveted

so, who are you melting so hard about? who would you have wanted in the 4th, 5th, and 6th rounds. give me a few names so i can see what we are missing out on and understand the melt

Unusual yes. Unfounded no. I love the aggressiveness to know what you want and the commitment to go get it. It’s still a long way from the Ricky Williams trade.

Literally cut all our 3rd day picks last year. Probably would happen again this year.

Give me three potential contributors over a bunch of camp bodies

Explain who you’re cutting to get those picks on the roster.

Not really. The saints constantly trade up for their targets.

Dude, the pick value chart was in our favor.

The player was in our TOP 40! Kiper and Davis loved the pick and said he shouldn’t have been available at all

Because going by the value chart we got 84 points in value while only giving up 74.6 points.

The point values reflect the likelihood of those rounds making rosters and making an impact.

So yes a late 3rd on average has a better shot of making the roster and making an impact that a late 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th round pick combined. After the 3rd is generally where the huge talent drop off is.

That's also reflected by the number of 1st to 3rd round players are on rosters, make second contracts, reach pro bowls, and are named all pro compared to players from rounds 4-7.

And you can look at which round every starting qb is from and also see this on display. The talent gulf year to year tends to be huge between rounds 1-3 vs. rounds 4-7.

I love the Trautman pick. People don’t understand his elite quickness and ball skills. They only want to look at his 40. I really believe he can be the next Zach Ertz

I love the trades to get those guys. I can't quite understand Tommy Stevens though. No one was touching him.

I mean how do you know that? Do you think we randomly decided to spend some capital on him because we were bored? Maybe they had intel that said otherwise

Grand scheme of things it’d ultimately meaningless so not really worth giving much thought to.
