ok you are right, no way a perfect season requires a team to stay at a high level of mental toughness, no way they may read their press clippings,no pressure, no way they may become lackadaisical, no way the take some small things for granted.NO WAY! NO WAY! right??? right??? geezus i feel like a damn tape recorder to a child.

I understand boring. It's boring cause he just sits there picking his nose not knowing what to do.

So what if this loss sends the team into a tailspin and we lose the last two games and then go one and done in the playoffs? What if guys start to get on Bushrod, Devery starts dropping balls again, the defense starts to point fingers and they lose their trust in GW?

Would the Dallas loss still be good for the team?

I understand your point but I hear that garbage from casual fans who just started acting like Saints fans 2 months ago. This team knows it has problems it needs to fix. Some of them are just getting healthy but it wasn't like it all of a sudden hit them when they lost Sat night and things will be all better next week.

Now if you want to argue that teams won't be gunning for us like they were when we were undefeated, I will listen to that argument.

Classic. It's the HAVE BECOME part you should have focused on. Implying that he's already learned everything he can from such a simple toy and that you would actually benefit from such a simple learning method. The fact that you gloss over the parts of an insult that you cannot comprehend, solidifies my suggestion that you are in fact, a complete dumbass.

I cannot believe I wasted an extra 15 minutes to COMPLETELY explain a burn to an idiot. Good luck in your life, and my God sterilize you as soon as possible.

This was possible whether we were undefeated or not. It's irrelevant in this argument.

No, that's not the point. The point is that now that 16-0 is not possible, we can rest, get people back, play the healthy just enough to keep them sharp, and prepare for going 3-0 when it counts. Nothing more.

Now if you want to argue that teams won't be gunning for us like they were when we were undefeated, I will listen to that argument.

one thing i'm not getting. At first there was pressure to go undefeated, which pressure should equal focus to perform at a high level. But you are saying that the pressure made them lackadaisical. So if they were focused on going undefeated and primed for that, then they would not be lackadaisical and taking the small things for granted. right? They would be more focused and ready to play because they want that undefeated stigma or would they be less focused because of the pressure? Basically if going undefeated was so pivotal to this team then how could you take anything for granted? or not play to the full potential?

necessarily a bad thing and now there are 5 threads on the front page talking about exactly the same thing.
I sure hope someone has pointed this out, but considering a loss "good" before it happens is goddamn stupid. If you even start thinking about "well, wouldn't it be nice to lose one to take the pressure off," you might as well go ahead and put one in the L column. Especially when winning every game could have been vital to clinching home field advantage.

To quote Herm Edwards, "you play to win the game."

That said, I don't want to lose another game now.
You sure about that? Wouldn't another loss relieve that much more pressure on this team?

look i understand that you are saying one loss will allow us to rest some of our guys because we don't have to try to go undefeated, therefore get the homefield advantage and rest up. I get that, but you should have just said it like that.

To extend this further, none of us were WISHING for a loss (well, I kind of did), simply stating that a loss is not NECESSARILY a bad thing.

i know but it wasn't a good thing, a loss never is a good thing. But there were many reasons for the loss and i don't think focus or lack thereof was to blame and neither was the chance of going undefeated. We got beat, we got down early and Dallas used their greatest strength, the pass rush.

This describes the last 5 games we played (excluding NE). Doesn't that point to a trend of "playing tight" or "playing to NOT lose, instead of playing to win"? Don't you see a trend in our season from mid-season when everyone started talking about 16-0?
