This describes the last 5 games we played (excluding NE). Doesn't that point to a trend of "playing tight" or "playing to NOT lose, instead of playing to win"? Don't you see a trend in our season from mid-season when everyone started talking about 16-0?

again i don't think it was the pressure. Every team has been playing the Saints tough. Teams have played past their expectations. Sometimes the blame is us, but people have played up to our competition because they wanted to be that team that knocked us off our high horse. To say they lost because of the pressure is not fact. To say that teams have come in and played us harder is fact. What is also fact is that we are injured on defense which i believe started roughly five to six games back. Injuries to a secondary are detrimental to a team who has had problem defending the pass in the past. Dallas had more pressure on them for this game than we did, and that is fact. Like i said earlier, if we had 3 superbowls in the past 10 years then undefeated would mean alot to that team, but being we don't have one, i think it mattered but not as much as what people think it did.

The bottomline is that NONE of this is fact. Every bit of it is speculation. There is no way to PROVE that the team is playing under pressure of 16-0 and playing not to lose, and there is NO way to prove that we are getting the other teams super effort. We can speculate that Dallas played their best game OR you can suggest that we MADE them look good b/c we're hurt and beat up in the secondary and Oline. Neither stance is fact.

You can also speculate that our dominance over other teams slowed when injuries started for us OR you can say we started playing tight when the media (and mostly Saints fans) started talking up 16-0 possibilities. Neither is conclusive.

All these morons talking about fact this and certainty that, are stupid. All we can do as fans is speculate. Period. There are those who speculate well, and those who don't. I'm speculating that this loss is MORE better than worse. Yes it's bad to lose. I believe it's WORSE to lose in the playoffs. I believe that there will be less pressure, therefore better performances by our Saints from this point forward. It is also possible, yet improbable that we will win the next two in convincing fashion, look invincible in the first round and eat a fat whale cock in the NFCCG. All I can do right now is hope for the best. Once the season is over, we can talk more about trends, implications, areas for improvement, coaching decisions and what might have been.

this is where my problem lies. You're speculating that if we didn't loose now we would have loss in the playoffs due to the pressures of an undefeated season.
My point is that the pressures of an undefeated season are far less than what people think and would not be the reason for a loss.

if you don't like it then

how do you figure that? it's a back and forth discussion, if you read all the pages, i agree with some he's saying but not with all of it. Again thats what a discussion is.

And there goes your last shred of credibility.

It's a wonder you're not an NFL head coach. I'd like to see you explain that perspective to your players.

+1.

It's the rant. Occasionally you get yahoos in here without and semblance of humanity or intelligence.

You are still a bonehead and therefore not part of the conversation. Your perspective is invalid.

Maybe I mis-stated. The secondary and tertiary benefits (less pressure, regardless of how MUCH less, and MORE time to rest players, specifically the ones who are not on IR, but simply banged and nicked up/tired) of a loss right now are more desirable to the ZERO benefits of losing in the PO's. I know what you're saying. We didn't HAVE to lose in either the reg season OR the playoffs. I'm simply suggesting that it was much more difficult to go 19-0 than it is to go 16-3 (worst case scenario). Can we agree on that? I am more confident in our PO chances now than I was before Dallas.

Another typical non-answer from you. Your attempts at rationalizing your indefensible position have failed, and now you resort to dismissive retorts.

How pathetic.
