Yes, there is MUCH less pressure on us now. Jesus man. 16-0 carries weekly pressure to win or else. The SB is attainable even though we might lose 3 in a row. It's not rocket science.
Dude, we're just about in the playoffs. Its win or go fricking home. The "attainable" SB is not "attainable" because of a fricking loss.
quote:
WRONG!!! If we play hurt and tired just to get to 16-0 it absolutely hurts our chances in the playoffs where one loss is unacceptable. The players are pushing themselves because they are type A personalities. They don't want to be the player who let down the fans or coaches so they play no matter how they feel.
Reggie Bush got hurt, Jonathan Goodwin got hurt... and we fricking LOSS THE frickING GAME. Boom mother fricker. So a loss kept us from getting hurt. If you think we're able to sit all of our starters the rest of the 2 games, you are a moron. Healthy players will play. Injured players will sit. Not fricking difficult.
quote:
Spoken like someone who has NEVER played sports. You're a moron if you think that players don't get caught up in routines and week in/week out tunnel vision. If nothing else, this loss proves that we are more than capable of getting beat by bad teams. The last second heroics in recent weeks only hurt us by reinforcing the mentality that no matter how we play for 3 qtrs, we can count on destiny or luck to get us the win. That is NOT good enough for the playoffs.
What the frick are you speaking? Dallas had more pressure to win that game than the Saints... guess who won? Players do get caught up in routines... I agree... thats why they need to fricking PLAY THE REMAINING frickING 2 games if healthy. You don't even know what the frick you are talking about. And I have played sports but in any case, i would love to hear the relevance of that to the subject and discussion at hand.
quote:
We know what happens when you take the #1 Offense to the playoffs with no defense behind you. Been there and Done that. We NEED time to rest our injured and these last two games plus the first round bye are the perfect time to do so. When we win the SB because all our players are healthy, hungry and focused, I'll accept your apology.
Ellis rested, Greer rested, Shockey sat. We want to get players like Porter, Fujita and hopefully Greer back BEFORE the playoffs bc they've been out for so long and need to get their feet wet before thrown to the wolves in the playoffs. We are resting those who are hurt, but again thats IRRELEVANT in trying to WIN THE frickING GAME! I feel like i'm playing connect four and every time my competitor gets three in a row, he claims victory.
quote:
Conversely, if Payton plays every one to go 15-1, and we dump the first or second round games ala 2006 because the team is out of gas and hurt, you'll eat mountainous bags of shite, deal?
Ellis sat, Greer sat, Reggie sat when he tweaked his hammy or whatever, bell got hardly any touches and PT hardly got any touches. SHockey sat cause he was injured. Not sure where you are getting this idea Payton isn't protecting his injured.

You honestly think someone's opinion debunks statements.
I agree that the focus for the Saints was not undefeated, but the ultimate goal of winning their first Superbowl. Thats where the pressure lied and still lies within this team. We are not New England and do not have the "dynasty" stigma to try and nail down. Had New England gone undefeated they would have been known as the greatest dynasty in sports, more than likely. They were more concerned with doing that than the goal of winning the championship.
I also agree that win or loose doesn't make a difference to health of your players. you honestly think the coaching staff will allow players to go this late in the season to get to be undefeated? Coaches realize what the goal is, again for a team and franchise that has never won one.
I also agree that these guys are professionals and if you don't get up to play every single day then you wind up like Jamarcus Russell. you see any JRs on our team. No because they guys want to play and are hungry for that title, wether it would be through a wild card or undefeated.
And yes i have played many sports.

last i checked it was a fact time and time again teams lose focus and get soft(reading their own press clippings, unpreparedness, mental toughness, etc) when winning, it leads to many things taken for granted. That is a FACT not an opinion.
It is also FACT that 3 weeks rest is better than 2 weeks rest last i checked. and could mean the difference between a player being 50% healthy OR 100% healthy. yes, i have played ball also. glad to see you have as well.

Your last post was painful and tedious. You fail. I will not "discuss" something with a person who cannot spell, nor compose a readable sentence.
Leave this discussion to the grown ups please.
And BTW- every point you tried to make is garbage.

BTW dumbass, nobody said rest all starters these last two games making it 4 weeks rest total. If you knew anything you would know we were talking about the last game AFTER HOMEFIELD IS LOCKED UP! geezus man. can you comprehend anything? have you played any ball? clearly not.

certain teams will lose focus, not all teams will. Thats fact, and until a Saints player admits it then it's not fact.

that is true, but the reference was that win/losses affect injuries, which it does not. I know you played ball, that was your last comment to Chad504. I was saying that to preempt any attempt to tell me the same thing.

So the Raiders should be extremely focused and the Colts' should be sucking. Again, your theory is far from factual and you are connecting many dots that need not be connecting. It's like saying ice cream sales causes an increased number of rapes.

Umm... do you not understand that we are still playing for homefield advantage that you want to "rest our players for". We might as well rest them the first game of the playoffs as well and get them ready for the NFC championship.

Oh now its after homefield which still isn't clinched but 2 sentences ago, you wanted to rest everyone the last 3 weeks of the season. You're a fricking hypocrite. Yes I've played ball. Again, I would love to hear the relevance if you can remove your chicken costume. Brett Favre and Peyton Manning and Drew Brees have all played some ball too and clearly NONE of them want to come out of these last important games.

How many teams have had perfect regular seasons again? You should not need a saint to tell you. all it takes is one game to not be ready.

So having a perfect season takes away a team's focus?
Posted on 12/21/09 at 11:02 am to jojothetireguy
I don't know where people get the idea that a loss makes our team better. Our defense has been getting hammered for weeks now. Bad QBs are putting up career number against us and you people blame the quest for perfection as the reason for this? In no way does losing a game make your team better or realign your goals. It may realign fans' goals but not the team.

Enjoy your game, little boy. I have some LeapFrog toys that have become boring for my 1 year old. Do want me to mail them to you?

right to not be ready, but you can't say that the pressure of going undefeated is the reason they were not ready. Athletes want to win, plain and simple. you don't play soft because you are winning, because you want to continue to win. Dallas needed that game and showed that they needed it. For as bad as Dallas is, they were still an explosive team, to much talent not to be.

I guess your boy can't figure out how they work. Must take after his daddy. Maybe if he loses a few toys, he can get refocused and figure out some of the other ones.

How in the world are we going to rest our players for 3 weeks after homefield is locked up? Clearly you are a fricking dumbass. Clearly the shite you are talking doesn't even add up.
