And who was responsible for the worst defense in the NFL?
This interaction in a Jameis Winston thread has me confused. But let’s be real here..anyone judging a QB on the entire teams overall record without considering other units on offense, defense, ST, and even coaching staff probably isn’t worth taking seriously anyway.
I’m cautiously optimistic about Jameis after yesterday. He’s head and shoulders the answer over Taysom and that’s clear.
Jameis kind of reminds me of a drug addict that’s going through rehab and is claiming to be clean. Doing all the right things but all it takes is some sort of pressure or nudge for them to revert back to their past behavior. I 100% know the talent is there. Trust isn’t quite there yet.

This is a good take.
I will day I saw a huge improvement of Winston not forcing throws. He was taking what the defense gave him, taking off for huge 3rd down conversion runs, and throwing the ball away after going through progressions twice and nothing there.
That is a huge improvement. My biggest fear after watching that game is he's going to sail an important pass one day too high and it is gonna cost a game, just hope it isn't a playoff.

Need to bump some of those Taysom threads where we had morons talking about the details of his contract, to make the argument we are paying him starting qb money.
Those were pretty hilarious.

We did. We paid him andy dalton monies (16.something mill) to extend him 1 more year on top of his restricted free agent deal he was locked in on.

I think with Winston there is a very narrow groove that Payton will have to keep him in for the next couple years and that will be his biggest challenge more so than on field performance. He has to make sure success does not lead to an outwardly cocky showman and he has to guard against criticism causing revolt.
The best example I can recall of a QB letting the talk and hype kill his career is AB. I remember a pregame interview they had with AB and Jeff Blake where AB was nothing less than an arrogant jerk and from there he went only down.
The best example of a player not being able to take the criticism is RG3. He let it all get in his head and he revolted against everyone and everything.

Could still happen but yesterday was very promising.

He really didn’t force anything yesterday. He used his legs instead which paid off.
Even the called back pick was on target enough. I feel like a receiver like Thomas hauls that in.

We’re hoping he’s learned a lot about poise, patience and game management.

It not a love fest with Winston. Fans are pleasantly surprised that he appears to be more disciplined and more coachable since he’s been under the wing of Drew Brees and Sean Payton. Did you happen to see his Post Game interview after the game? He was impressive and very humble and thankful that the Saints have confidence in him. He wasn’t cocky, and he has a swagger and physical ability to do things that Drew Brees could not do.

We paid him all that money and then turned around a didn’t give him a fair chance. Why would we do that Chad?

Are you the guy with the “Taysom hill will be your starting QB” threads?
