If they have the chance to sign a good interior OL piece this offseason they should do it. Shough rarely ever has a clean pocket to step up into. Also hampers our running game.

I looked at likely FAs. There weren't many projected OGs. It sucks a bit.

I think we can make playoffs next year. A playoff run, the year after.

Playoffs - possibly next year.

The entire division is in disarray.
Tampa is aging and looks broken
Atlanta is under performing
Carolina are pretenders

I want us to be patient

Some options here but it is fairly thin at the position in FA

quote:

G Ed Ingram, Houston Texans

After a dreary start, the Texans are back in both the AFC South and playoff conversation. Houston’s defense rightfully garners most of the attention, but the team’s offensive line has quietly improved — and Ingram is at the forefront.

Ingram’s 79.9 overall PFF grade is the sixth-highest among qualified guards, powered by his great 85.4 PFF run-blocking mark. Although his pass protection hasn’t been quite as dynamic — producing a 62.0 PFF pass-blocking grade — it still places in the 65th percentile at the position.

Considering he’ll be 27 throughout the entire 2026 season, expect lots of suitors for Ingram, especially teams seeking to receive a boost in their run game.

quote:
G Isaac Seumalo, Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers’ offense hasn’t flashed much in Aaron Rodgers’ first season with the team, ranking 20th in EPA per play. Still, Seumalo has enjoyed a solid season in 2025.

Seumalo’s 77.5 overall PFF grade is the seventh-best among qualified guards, and his 80.6 PFF pass-blocking mark is the second-highest. It’s important to note that Rodgers owns the fourth-fastest average time to throw (2.65 seconds), but Seumalo has still held up well in true pass sets with a 65.4 pass-blocking grade.

Seumalo was an underrated addition in March 2023, but perhaps more teams will take note of the 32-year-old three years later

quote:
C Luke Fortner, New Orleans Saints

Kellen Moore’s inaugural season in New Orleans hasn’t offered much to write home about, particularly on offense — where the Saints are still 30th in success rate. However, the team’s offensive line has flashed at times, including Fortner up the middle.

Filling in for the injured Erik McCoy, Fortner has done an admirable job as New Orleans’ center in 2025. He’s secured a 74.6 overall PFF grade across 351 snaps, which ranks eighth among qualifiers at the position. Additionally, Fortner is one of only three centers with a 70.0-plus grade in both pass- and run-blocking.

Fortner’s two years as a full-time starting center with the Jaguars may prompt some skepticism, but he’s undoubtedly playing the best football of his career before becoming a free agent. Given the dearth of available centers every March, that could offer solid money

I think Linderbaum may also be available.

If they think Fuaga can play OG, getting a RT and moving him may be the most efficient strategy

Shogun would turn 28 at the beginning of the 2027 season, not 30. For reference Brees turned 28 at the end of the 2007 season.

The age issue with Shough was a concern that he wouldn’t be good because he was overproducing in college due to his age. Not a concern that if he is good the window to contend with him would be too short.

In this division I would say next year. Right now, Saints have best record within the division. Not a real dominant team; wide open. Division champ will likely be one and done in playoffs. .

Overall I'm happy with this season and things are looking up. But...

If Panthers/Bucks split and each loses their other game and Saints win out could end up with 7 wins this season and not beat a team with a winning record. So a crappy division and crappy 4th place schedule should be considered in the conversation.

So still a ways to go to be competitive if we are being honest. It would be more beneficial next season for the Saints to finish 4th in the division again.

You think we are close right now? Because we beat Carolina and Tampa?

We have no WR1, O line and D line is in shambles. Our defense is aging. Who steps in at RB?

How is the d-line in shambles exactly? It could use some interior depth and edge upgrade opposite Young but far from “shambles.”

O-line we need interior upgrades for sure but if McCoy can stay healthy you’ve got three average-above average starters.

Skill position we also need upgrades but Vele and Johnson coming on in the last month is big. Olave/Vele/Johnson/Miller/Neal is an ok starting point. Add another 2-3 guys through draft and FA.

Going into 2026, we have these key holes:

Offense:
RB1: AK is nearing being toast, I think next year is his last and it showed this year.
LG and RG: Easily 2 of the biggest holes, I just hope we can figure a solution for at least 1 of them this upcoming year
WR1: Olave & Vele are not game changers, but projecting out their last 5 games these are their numbers (92 receptions - 143 targets - 1142 yards - 10 TDs for Olave; 68 receptions - 99 targets - 864 yards - 3 TDs); that is solid enough for another year as we figure out other things.

Defense:
DE: While Chase Young has shut up some haters 9 games, 6 sacks; Cam Jordan is on his last legs & Carl Granderson is best as a rotation piece. We need a game changer
CB1: Not a single CB on our roster is lock down, Mansoor Delane could be a target if he grades well
S: I like our guys, but there's not a game changer. If Delane isn't it, caleb downs is special.
LB: Davis is still producing, but there's only 1 thing undefeated in the NFL.

I actually think DT is solid rotationally

We could win the division next year. We are a couple of years out being competitive in the playoffs. The future looks bright.

We have a legit shot at winning the division if we can fix the guard situation.

Any of these players even top 15-20 at their position?

That should answer ppls questions about where we are at currently.

In the NFC South, one season.
A GOOD draft (WR, DE, DT/OL, RB) and complimentary, affordable FAs, and we are right there next season.

Playoffs. Being Contendors may be another 2-3 years if it continues going this direction.
