Didn’t Alex Smith had the highest QBR in the league in this offense?

But Mahomes is “carrying this team on his back”.

And? You act like Alex Smith is a bum at QB. He's a game manager and a fairly good one. He's not a great QB but he gets it done. Chiefs had a good defense 2 years ago if I remember right.

Not like any of that matters since it's based on this season. Mahomes is having the MVP year. If Brees would've played decent the past 3 weeks he probably would've had it but the offense looked anemic and he kept making awful decisions. Doesn't help he lost a huge game on the road on national TV where the Cowboys were trying to hand the Saints the win. He shite the bed.

Mahomes makes plays that just blow your mind. He's the future NFL. He's the young sexy pick. He'll be MVP. Brees is first ballot HOF so it's not like it matters anyway. Besides, if you've been paying attention to the media you'll know Mahomes is the one they want. It was Brees until about 3 weeks ago and Brees steadily let that gap widen.

If stats mattered, Brees would have 5 MVPs right now. But they always tend to give it to the best player on the best team every year, hence why Brees never won. If this is the case, the MVP should go to Brees this year.

You were acting like the chiefs are a bunch of bums being carried by Mahomes when that is factually untrue

Also by your logic he lost that rams game too on MNF

And the pats game

And the Chargers game

And nearly the Ravens game

His track record against the good team in the league in the league isn't inspiring

But Muh stats

Brees' numbers would be prettty insane with Kelce and Hill

Mahomes turns the ball over and has lost a bit more.

This game should count, just like Brees the past couple of weeks..

I would still lean Mahomes, but I have some non Saints fans still say Brees should get MVP.. so now IDK..

Well, MVP is about delivering wins right?

While Brees was cobbling together a couple tough wins down the stretch to sew up the 1 seed, Mahomes lost three of his last five and goes onto week 17 fighting for a bye.

If Mahomes got hurt the Chiefs wouldn't win a game this year. So I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Their defense is awful and I doubt the guy behind Mahomes is going to be able to put points up.

So yes, Mahomes carries the Chiefs because he gets nothing from his defense similar to Brees did in his big stat years. Just face it if New Orleans wasn't such a small market they would've gave it to Brees a few times. Mahomes will get it since the media loves him and sees the future NFL in him even if KC isn't exactly a big market either.

What's funny? Do you think the backup to Mahomes could put up 30+ points a week to win? Because that's what it takes with KC's defense. Even with all those weapons I seriously doubt it. Mahomes is a generational talent. Take your glasses off.

like both QB's, but it's basically,

Mahomes is the Snapchat/Instagram/15 minutes of fame world we live in MVP this year. He's the trendy and sexy choice.

Brees is the top to bottom best and most logical choice for MVP this year.

like others have posted, if it were only about flashy highlight reels of great touchdown passes, then Brees would have won the award several times already.

Mahomes can have whatever stats he wants but the proofs in the pudding

He can't get it done in the clutch

The chiefs have had double digit wins the 2 seasons prior to Mahomes. He is not carrying them. Yes their defense needs lots of work but they are loaded on offense and have been for a few years now.

The difference the past 2 years, saints run it in successfully within 5 yards.

Previous years they'd throw it in. That's like 10 tds alone.

There ya go.

Their D certainly has not been good this season but to say they'd be winless without Mahomes is just laughable. They'd still have weapons everywhere offensively. They've also had games where they gave up 23/14/10/23/21/14/21. I so the poster is essentially saying the Chiefs would never score more than 10-14 points a game.

KC was great last year without Mahomes, and Henne is a good QB and former starter in this league. Andy Reid’s offense is great for QBs and always has been. He makes a valid point. I don’t think you can definitively say that the Saints are better off without Brees than KC is without Mahomes.

And the stat argument is weak. If our defense was dog shite and Brees had to throw as much as Mahomes, the stats would be about the same. Their passer ratings show us this.
