None of those guys are even 1s on Arizona’s depth chart. Two of them are rookies, two are special teams guys

#43 Jesse Luketa - 2nd string - zero career sacks
#56 Darius Robinson - 2nd string - rookie 1st rd
#52 Victor Dimukeje - 2nd string - 4 career sacks
#54 Xavier Thomas - 3rd string - rookie 5th rd
#50 Tyreke Smith - 4th string - zero career sacks, 19 career def snaps

And that tape looked like he was going against TJ Watt. He was playing on roller skates every play lol.

I guess the question is how much better can he get between now and the 1st game (since as DA said, this was his first game at RT ever)?

And once you answer that, you'll know how this season is going to go. (The answer is, not very much)

You have to think that when the regular season starts, teams are going to purposely start lining up certain players against him.

Can you blame them??

They don't need to. He made Arden Key look like Lawrence Taylor, he can do it for other average guys too.

Yeah I remember that wasn't just the first half alone.

Didn't they start using a tight end or a running back to help chip after that? Cuz somehow or another in the second half he didn't give up another one.

They are going to have to make a trade or spend a little money to grab someone
You cannot go into the season with him and nothing else.

Get someone who has done it at tackle. This is where good gms/coaches separate themselves from bad ones. Sunken cost.

No clue as to why he’s in the NFL, pure garbage.

I’m no OL guru, but it seems like he really struggles once the DLineman touches him.

Otherwise things look great.

For another point of reference the Cards were last in rushing defense last year.

The whole blocking thing looks so unnatural to him. Off balance, not expecting either the impact or the speed rush.

i feel like penning would be a bit better if he engaged the lineman a bit faster.

He is too passive. He is letting the DE dictate position which is why he is always falling back. He also needs to engage lower in the body, not at shoulder level.

A lot of that is coming from him playing against lesser competition. He has some bad habits.

He needs tons of actual reps to get better. You can tell penning is fearful of being on an island. He will get beat to the inside all yr. He is off balance and not great at accepting contact.

On top of that you can tell he is thinking about what to do and not playing naturally. Penning isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Just look how smooth and clean fuaga is. He has a plan on how to attack the defensive player. Penning doesn't. Penning isn't dictating to the defense

He’s going to get Carr killed. That is bad tape for a high school player let alone an NFL starter.

This offense would struggle with a decent O-line. With this guy, there will be no deep routes, no timing routes, and the TE will be virtually ineffective in the passing game because he will need constant help. No more free release for the RB. If he is the starting RT on day 1, get ready for some putrid offense.

There has to be someone on the roster that can at least win a rep every now and then.

I will be surprised if Penning gets all the reps with the ones this week. Landen seems likely.
