Smyth will be stashed by his designation as an international player but I think he eventually replaces Grupe. I know accuracy is no.1 for a kicker inside 45 but in today’s NFL you have to have a kicker that has the leg to make a kick from at least 57 yards. If you have no time at the end of a game and can get to your 40 yard line then you need to be cake to have the option to take that shot. Some guys are hitting from 70 in warmups these days so a 50 yard FG that used to be considered very long is now just a mid range kick.

That should tell you something. He may be back but he isn't a starting safety in this league. Mike edwards is a much better safety and he got cut.
