I recently heard that Todd Monken would be very interested in the Saints head coach job.
I think this would be great! Lots of experience running different offenses. Been around two very successful programs….Georgia and Baltimore.
I think he checks lots of boxes:
Offensive side of the ball
Knows what a good culture looks like
Hungry to be an NFL coach
Young but not green

Not the worst choice, you’d have to have a few tell you no first though…

That’s not a rumor. He’s the 5th highest odds to be next coach. Led by Joe Brady.

He’s 59 & a career assistant coach. Generally that way for a reason.

Won't change anything if Gayle and Mickey are still there. They are stupid.

I know people disagree. But I don’t give a shite if they are an offensive or defensive coach. I want a leader that will take this franchise by the horns and drag it to greatness.

Unfortunately, I think Loomis wants an academic/yes man like Dennis Allen.

There isn’t a single thing about him that is young. This isn’t a rumor, he’s been mentioned in numerous job openings. I’d be okay with it if about 6 other candidates said no. Not really a coach that’s overly desirable.

With our cap situation we won’t be getting our 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice

A career Assistant like Monken wouldn’t shock me

Sauces? Monken has been on everyone's list for 20 years. He's a coordinator for a reason.

Whomever we get is destined for failure. Lets just hope they draft well to set up the next coach who maybe inherits a decent core.

If I am a young or feisty time NFL HC candidate I am staying far away from the saints at this time. My reason is because I am going into a losing situation no matter how good a coach I am and I will be saddled with a losing record for several years that will follow my future career.

I look at DA and he may be a terrible HC but the truth and reality is that he took two really bad jobs with no win situations.

What is your expectation for the next HC (2025-2027)?

Get extra draft picks and draft strong trench players and select skill players that become the nucleus for the next run in a few years, while we reset our cap for that same run.

In terms of W-L, don’t really care.

I agree to an extent, but there will be winnable games and they should win those. Also, at a minimum they should look like they know what they are doing in most of the other games regardless of the outcome.

As for the rest of that I'm not sure we will know how much of that is the HC decisions and how much is the GM/Scouting department decisions so I'm not sure how to gauge that in the success of the HC.

An even worse shitshow. No coaching candidates with high expectations & aspirations is going to want this job. There's a loser at QB, a roster that is old, lacks talent & depth & has the worst salary cap situation in the entire league. Only a warm body will take on such a challenge. Not to mention Loomis doesn't bring about warm & fuzzy feelings when it comes to his drafting capabilities.

And here’s another that is perpetually miserable and sees nothing ever getting better for the Saint yet here he is bitching and moaning instead of just moving on and leaving this terrible team. lol.

Based on previous history with Loomis as GM, there is currently nothing to look positive towards the franchise. Could that change? Yes but in order for that outlook to change, Organizational changes must be made first. Then the roster must be gutted & the salary cap cleared. Sorry if such logical & rational outlooks bother you so much.

I'm trying to keep the discussion civil, but Mickey's decisions have been poor and hurt the Saints for years to come. Any job, you would be shown the door by a real boss.
