And I now feel bad about it.

That's how I felt reading this. His departure is long overdue IMO but that was definitely a classy way to go out considering so many of the fans have been vocally celebrating his exit on social media.

Like I said before, regardless of his failures the past couple of years, the only thing I see in my head when I hear someone mention Hartley is this scene:

Thanks for everything, Hartley.

Hartley popped our Super Bowl cherry. For that, I shall be forever greatful.

Classy move. Although it was frustrating this season, all Saints fans are indebted to Hartley for what he did in the Super Bowl run. It was the right call to let him go. I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in a Saints uniform in the future if we have kicking struggles in the next few seasons

Can't remember the exact quote, SP to GH in the Vikings game, but my version with apologies: "Now go hit that effen fleur de lis " ( behind the goal posts).
And he did..........

So Beta and Emo.

Go cry somewhere in the corner by yourself because you can't do the only thing in life that you have an ability to do.

Head case and waste of talent.

Saints were down 10-0 in Super Bowl.

Hartley kicked our way back into game with a 46 and 44 yard field goal, brings us to 10-6.

Coule swapped Td's.

Hartley kicks a 47 yd fg to make it one point game.

We're not in this game without these Hartley makes.

Thanks for helping us win a Superbowl, a feat that many of us would not think would happen in our lifetime and didn't for many Saints fans Like Buddy D my father and grandfather.

We older Saints fans that have been there though the good bad and ugly will always be grateful for all the players on that Superbowl team.

Thanks for your service and bringing home the Lombardi trophy. WE will never Forget!

I recall Morten Andersen commenting on Hartley a couple of years ago when Hartley was in a slump, and Morten basically said that Hartley didn't put the time into kicking during the offseason that is needed to be a consistent kicker. Morten basically said that Hartley was lazy. It was during a guest appearance on WWL (I believe). Anyone else recall this?

Also, searching for this Morten comment, I found this interesting link on FG statistics. LINK
