Through somewhat of a miraculous process, this Free Agency period has been life changing for me. During a routine physical conducted by the Saint’s medical team down in New Orleans, I’ve come to learn that I have Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and will be stepping away from football (1/3)

First Dorenbos' heart condition, now this. Our team that does Physicals are outstanding, finding things no other team did.

I guess they saw it in the bloodwork?

Best of luck to him & his family.

As much as I have disagreed with John amoss, he's the last of the old physicians that emphasize physical exams. I'm not shocked he's caught something like this yet again.

I just saw that.
Seems like he was def going to sign with the saints.
At least, that is a very treatable form of cancer.

I'm shocked that it took the New Orleans medical team to find it

The Saints’ doctors may have actually saved this man’s life.
Let that sink in.

Best of wishes to Foster. That really sucks to be dealing with cancer in your 20’s.

I thankfully know absolutely nothing about Hodkins Lymphoma, so pardon my complete ignorance when I ask why this requires him to stop playing. He’d be in a peak physical regimen with access to a professional nutrition staff and he’d have something that he presumably loves to take his mind off of the shock of this diagnosis.
So why not play?
So why not play?

Is this a real question? As someone who’s had Hodgkin’s, I’d say it would be pretty damn hard to play professional football while undergoing chemotherapy.

And Michael Thomas doesn't think they treat an ankle properly.
God job by the Saints medical team and God speed Foster to a full recovery.

Google how they treat it and what that does to your body. His physical condition provides him the best chance to fight the disease, but playing and stressing the body while undergoing treatment would be extremely detrimental. This has to be one of the most ignorant questions posted in a while.

Because of his great physical health they will most likely give hime chemo and radiation at the same time to knock it out quickly.
But it doesn’t matter how great of shape you are in. Getting that at the same time is extremely hard on your body.
I’ve seen it fist hand with my sister who was a college athlete

I was kinda hoping the Saints would sign him anyway to a veteran minimum and put him on IR so he could have the NFL medical insurance pay for all of it.
