What happened?
2 weeks ago it was sacrilege to even suggest considering trading Rattler (if anyone wanted him) because he was a "good back up". Now, he can't even win 50% of his games.
Rattler didn't play a horrible game against the Rams. He just played a normal Rattler game. He had moments where he moved the ball between the 20s. Yet, when the Saints got into the redzone they came away with zero points (yes, I know there was a missed FG and a fumble).
If the field were only 60 yards long Rattler would be great. Unfortunately, he kind of is what he is. A guy that will make some nice throws/plays but is too inconsistent to win many games. He's cheap, so it's not really worth cutting him. But he shouldn't be indispensable either.

Not speaking for others here.
To me there is not any consistency in any of the backups. Not in what I have been able to see or read or hear from camp. I hope they look for a more steady backup, find them and bring them in.

The reason they started Rattler was to let Shough ease into the NFL and also shield him from a ton of unwarranted backlash. Unfortunately many fans are divided just like the rest of this country due to the media. So many fans were complaining we drafted an “old and always injured QB” and thought we should have drafted Sanders. They didn’t care to see anything from Shough because he wasn’t the guy they wanted to draft. So they all jumped on the Rattler is better train. If Shough started and struggled half your fan base would be calling for him to be benched and Rattler to start. It was obvious in preseason that Shough looked better in the pocket and going through his reads than Rattler did. Even if the stats were similar. Let Rattler start and struggle like he would and then fans and the media don’t push back as much for not drafting Sanders. Then Shough can take over in an easier part of the schedule with less criticism by people putting their personal agenda into the situation.

Everyone swore Rattler was playing good football.
Even the Opponents D coordinator said he was going to be a playmaker one day.

There's a reason he left Oklahoma, there's a reason he wasn't high in the draft, and there's a reason why he won't ever be a wise choice as starting QB for the Saints or any other NFL team.

8/10 for 79 yards, no passing tds, no ints, 1 sack and under 100 QB rating.
The rushing td was nice but it was a designed play and not improvisation. He had 1 other rush for 1 yard, 9 yards total.
Only thing he clearly did better was hit the check downs immediately, but Dallas was also playing off a lot and allowing those check downs to pick up good yardage. His air yards were pretty fricking horrible as usual, but that was saved by hitting the checkdowns quick and allowing them to pick up the yards.
Wilson also had an ok game. 9/13 passing for 93 yards, no tds, no ints, 1 sack, and a practically identical QB rating (96.9 to 99.6).
And both were playing against backups and mostly guys that will be cut. Neither was impressive, but neither shite the bed like last week.
We are fricked if either has to fill in for an extended period, but they could come in for a game or 2 and hopefully not shite the bed.
