I don’t think we really have that luxury. I think they just roll with the growing pains and hope he catches on quickly

We haven’t had much success drafting LBs but we’ve neglected that position for too long. We need to inject it with youth and athleticism. Davis isn’t a spring chicken. Baun, at best, will be a complimentary piece. We wanted Kenneth Murray but the Chargers traded in front of us. Then we traded for Kwon. But he’s got an Achilles.

It’s clear it’s a position they’re unhappy with.

A little early for draft priorities considering we don’t know who is still on the team or who we will sign in FA. But some guys I’ll be looking at in the draft process:

Patrick Surtain II, CB alabama
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB Notre Dame
Tyson Campbell, CB UGA
Jaycee Horn, CB USCe
Azeez Ojulari LB, UGA
Micah Parson, LB Penn State
Zaven Collins, LB Tulsa
Nick Bolton, LB Mizzou
Rodarius Williams, CB Oklahoma State

There are also about a dozen OT and Guards I wouldn’t mind us getting either, but that means we can probably grab one of them in the second if they slide. And if we can re-sign Hurst, our need for an OL goes down a bit.

I personally do not want Davis in the first.

QB aside since its obvious we're gonna go one way or another.

1. DL (I don't care if its a DT or DE honestly)
2. CB (our #2 is a pure unknown. I fully anticipate us to draft a guy in the top 2 rounds)
3. LB (outside of demario, its either shite or unknowns)
4. WR (we have plenty of weapons; some are questionable, but we have more than most teams IMHO)

I agree I think unless a CB or WR falls to us or close enough to us that they really like and may trade up for I think DL could be the top priority.

a bunch of veteran players will probably be available in free agency and maybe you target them cause of the $ situation?

Edit: older veterans than usual that may not command as much $

Strictly speaking just next year, not his entire outlook as a pro.

He struggled to pick up being an off-ball LB. Never earned any meaningful snaps and couldn’t even beat out Anzalone. For all we know, he could struggle again and spot play again like he did last season. Or hopefully he picks things up a little and has a bigger role. But changing from mostly on-ball to off-ball can be challenging for some guys. We don’t really know since he had a limited offseason but apparently he struggled the rest of the season to pick up more than a handful of snaps a game.

Could take him another year or two before it clicks. I hope it does. I would love for our core LBs of the future to be Zack Baun and Zaven Collins or something like that.

I’d swap DL and LB just because we have Onyemata, Cam and Davenport. We still got gutted there and I wouldn’t mind a top pick there but considering the gaping holes at CB and LB, I’d like to think they go there first. They’ll still go BPA but hopefully it’s a CB or LB.

We’re also looking at needing a NT more so than a 3 tech, which is what all of the top DTs are except Barmore I think? I’m also not in love with the DE prospects around where we pick. Jayson Oweh is one most mocked to us and he’s a pure potential guy like Davenport was. I’d pass on that considering how Davenport has played out.

Greg Newsome
Jaycee Horn (doubtful)
Zaven Collins (doubtful)
Nick Bolton

Are the guys I want most if we stay at 28.

I will place a $20 bet the Saints draft Jamie Newman as their QB of the future in the 3rd round. Bookmark this.

He couldn’t even get it on a defensive snap last year

So our #2,3,4 corners are not likely to be on the team unless they resign on real cheap contracts and yiu don’t have corner listed? In a passing league. Ok

Corner is the top priority. It should be taken high. You can always find a linebacker in fa that is serviceable for cheap.

I argued this last draft when everyone was clamoring for Queen. His final pff grade was in the 20’s. Which is a bench level player. And we got Kwon for almost nothing, and he vastly outplayed Queen...

losing depth on the Dline too there big chief.

i don't give a god damn if its Rob Kelly baCk there trying to cover the WR if you aint getting pressure on the QB or stopping the run you aint winning.

LAST CALL DRUNKARD !
