As sad and disappointed as I was that SP quit, the more I read stuff like this and his previous flirtations with other teams, the more I realize he needed to go. Clearly he did not want to be here any longer and why try to keep someone who just isn't in it anymore.

I agree, but do Loomis and Gayle have it in them to play hardball with Sean. I hope they do.
Also, since he "retired" after the tampering Saints should get that draft pick, but thats me being a fan.

"The investigators found tampering violations of unprecedented scope and severity," Goodell said in a statement. "I know of no prior instance of a team violating the prohibition on tampering with both a head coach and star player, to the potential detriment of multiple other clubs, over a period of several years. Similarly, I know of no prior instance in which ownership was so directly involved in the violations."
I do not believe CSP agent acted without his clients knowledge. I don't think the FO believed that either. He was gone in just a couple of weeks.

So the dolphins talking to Payton’s agent is your smoking gun that Payton was trying to leave? To join a franchise in much worse shape than New Orleans. It’s very possible that he wanted a change of scenery. But this isn’t the smoking gun you are wanting to shite on Payton.
Also, it seems like you are suggesting the front office fired him. You do realize he’s still under contract with the Saints right?

He could have been attempting to make a move and push his way out and when it didnt work out he chose to "retire" instead. I just dont see this as evidence that the Saints FO pushed him out.

The more I’m reading and hearing about it I think Loomis’s gloves will be off in regards to future Payton talks. I think bridges are burned.

If the nfl informed the Saints of all this before CSP "retired" then I think its clear the FO said goodbye.
If not then yes I agree more likely he couldn't make it work with the fish and left the org.

What? Did you actually read the release from the NFL, or did you just read what Shifty reported? The league found that the Dolphins had communication with Payton's agent, nothing in the release said they spoke with Payton directly.
I am not saying the FO did not put pressure on Payton to step away, or that Payton stepped away because he couldn't get a release/trade. Just stating that what was released today would not be proof that Payton actually wanted to leave to go to another team.

Payton's agent would not have done anything without his approval. This lends credence to the rumors that he was going to go coach the Chargers in 2017, but Loomis nixed it when Anthony Davis forced his way out of NOLA
