Does anyone think Sean Payton will be good on TV?

I don't think his style of explaining will translate. Maybe in small, teaching like segments. But sitting at a desk, I'm not too sure.

Drew was terrible on TV. No charisma at all. I'm thinking Payton will be similar.

I think Payton has infinitely more personality than Brees, so yes. Listening to Brees on TV was like listening to a corporate Twitter account talking through a person.

Round table style then yes. Same for Brees. Play by play takes skill not fake hair to get by.

I can see him being an improvement to Brian Billick. I am sure there will be a transition period where he's talking over everyone's heads, but if he latches onto a similar role he could have a long career. With that said, I hope the networks have a short leash and we see him coach somewhere in the NFL next year for a few draft picks

I would love to watch him when they have to talk about the Falcons. He'd just troll them the entire time.

“Listen,”

I think he will be knowledgeable about football.”

I also think it will be a drinking game every time he says Listen.

Listen…I think he’ll be okay but he’s just killing a year before he jumps back in with Dallas or some other good situation that pops up.

Some extra picks for next year would be nice

Payton don’t give a frick about television. It was just a scam to get to another organization who had a top league QB. And he can take that 90 minute press conference and shove it up his sorry arse.

Will be very knowledgeable and informative, if not funny and entertaining.

He couldn't even get a job as an analyst because he bombed all the interviews.

Brees is paralyzed from the flag stuff. He actually has more natural personality and charisma than what he showed in the booth this year. Problem is, he was trying to learn a new job and he was playing it safe due to what happened a couple of years ago.

What happened a couple of years ago was 100% on him. He should have considered that before he caved for no reason on his own opinion.

If you've ever read Payton's post-SB book, he's a helluva story-teller. (I read the book twice in the same day. He's funny, smart & insightful.) But Sean needed a ghost writer to complete the thoughts/anecdotes in a readable fashion.

In his tv/online interviews, he tells funny/interesting stories, but he often swallows a lot of details that force the listener to read-between-the-lines/assume elements of the anecdote.

In press conferences, he's even more measured. He pauses a lot while he gathers his message and will skip to the summary w/o the in-between details. He also leaves out crucial details (think injuries: "he has a knee"). He often doesn't explain plays in layman's terms: "They were in quarters... (but the opponent) Switched to a fire (blitz). (Drew) Probably should have hit the crosser. The seam had a double (coverage)."

Nah, it’s not on him. Dude simply answered an inappropriate question for a yahoo finance article. He caved because he is a good guy that loves his teammates and he wanted to ride with them 1 more season. Nothing more, nothing less. You guys are pathetic for holding that against him.

probably not because Payton wants to go back to coaching. He will be somewhat guarded in what he says so as not to disparage anyone and not give up a competitive advantage when he goes back to coaching.
