Maybe we should wait and see if we can win a few games and make a run in the playoffs before we decide that Payton was “holding us back”… as he engineered the greatest era of saints football in franchise history

Please name one sane scenario that shows any motivation for him to torpedo this team or his career or legacy. Post these tweets that you are seeing and let's figure out their basis in fact.

He held us back when he didn’t send Brees packing and welcome Brady in with open arms. But friendships and all that emotional shite got in the way.

Not at all. Those people are the ones that claim he didn’t want former LSU players on the roster, then go silent when you ask why did he give up assets to trade for Kwon.

Also, we’d need to see the offensive style to know if he was “holding the team back”. Will also be difficult for an honest assessment because you’d have to compare to the Brees years. Last year isn’t a good comparison bc of the perfect storm of injuries

The ole winning percentage bullshite losers argument.

He blew multiple opportunities to get to and win another SuperBowl.
(Period)

You know how many SuperBowls the Vikings and Bills went to?

Nobody gives one frick.

I do believe his ego and the smartest guy in football attitude did cost us at the very least one more SuperBowl

But frick him

He’s gone

The jury is still out on Dennis Allen. He has never accomplished anything as a head coach. Hopefully he won’t be the Saints version of Ed Orgeron.

Yes. I can't wait to get draft picks for him to make his departure even sweeter.

He is a great leader but a tremendously overrated strategist and GameDay coach

So we screwup drafts and fa signings for years, and put historically bad defenses around Brees during his prime years, and then when we finally get it right his last few years and put a legitimate Super Bowl team around him, we send him packing for pretty boy Brady? That wouldn’t sit right with me at all.

Regardless of everything you mentioned….. Drew’s arm was gone. Brady still had a lot left. So yes indeed, we should have made the business decision to take Brady in. It was a colossal frick up not to.
