Do we suddenly have a choice to make about trading Chase Young?

So, the initial and obvious take, Chase has become a locker room leader, has done everything right and we signed him to one of the most team friendly deals in the league for his production at this time in his 2nd yr of 3 yr deal.
We suddenly find ourselves sinking out the playoff race, have Shough rising with an offense that is spuddering. Chase Young has quickly become one of our most tradable and valuable assets on the team.
He's got 1 year left on his deal, probably would want an extension before playing on this last year. Extensions for the positions of edge at his production is in the 40 million per year range.
Are we wanting to commit that type of cap to Chase when he'll be 29 years old playing on this extension at the time we would need to be extending Shough? Answer could be yes, but it is something to ask ourselves at this time. Chase should be able to fetch a 1st and change IMO with what he has shown over past year and change since last year.

No. You don’t trade one of the best Edges in the NFL when you’re trying to build a roster that’s trying to lure one of the top HC candidates.
Good Edges don’t really see a fall off until 34-35. He’s got another 4-6 good years in him and the Saints need players like that if they want to find success with Shough.
Having said that, anyone outside of Shough can be had at the right price. If someone wants to trade 2 first round picks for him then by all means. But I wouldn’t accept anything less than two first round picks, same deal that Crosby got. I just don’t think anyone is doing that so, no. Chase stays

This isn't a question and whoever brings it up needs to be fired on the spot

Agreed. Unless it's just too good a deal he stays.

you would be the first hypocrite to want loomis fired again for extending chase this offseason w/ a 160 million extension with about 90 guaranteed and then Chase gets an injury again.

So 2 firsts, you are trading Chase Young. Its not that far fetched for a super bowl contending team with an edge need. Lions, Vikings, Bills are 3 teams that I would wonder if they would give and/or want.

Yeah super smart to get two 28-32 picks so we can draft a guard and a mid running back.
You don't trade the only other young building block for the franchise (at the second most premium position) other than the franchise QB.

premier edge guys are one of the most traded commodities in the nfl. i'm not saying its right or wrong but it is frequent.

Did Moore get fired and I missed it?

Lions have Hutchinson and aren’t going to fork out huge money to extend Young when they have to worry about extensions for Branch and LaPorta
Doubt the Vikings do it when they’re fine with Dallas Turner.
Maybe the Bills. Maybe the Bears. Either way, you’re looking at very late first round picks for those the next few years

sure, that's why we're getting multiple picks. Chase does not get traded for a top 10 pick on draft day.

we don't need 2 mid player first rounders. we need our top 5 NFL edge player who is a cornerstone of the franchise for the next decade
have you heard him talking about New Orleans? he only wants to play here and is going to be the next Cam how Cam followed in Will Smith's shoes.
you need faces of the franchise and veteran leaders

The entire point of the draft is to find a Chase Young. Then once you finally get him you trade him away for more chances to find him again?

To build a team, you need as many all pro players at the premier positions in the NFL: QB, DE, LT, CB and now WR.
We have all-pro players at DE and WR, with a LT and a QB with all-pro potential. These are literally the building blocks of any team.
I would trade any player that is not Shough, Young, Olave or Banks.

Quenton Nelson is a much better player and just went for a 3/5. Nobody is giving 2, 1sts for Young.
